View Full Version : Video card- handle or not?

hi everyone,
well im geting interested into WOW but not sure if my computer's video card will handle it. I have a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb agp. Does anyone know if this is good enough to run WOW?

It's depends on you other system specs... to get a clear visual idea yourself

ye i saw that in the other thread everything exceeds the minium except the video card bacause i havnt changed it to this one yet. I am buying it off a person and it has a no return policy and they dont know if it can handle WOW.

If my onboard/shared memory graphics can handle WoW a R9600Pro will be fine. You just won't be able to turn everything up (like textures and all that jazz).

If the rest is sufficient (1GB RAM !!) you can run it just fine.

In reference, My wife's PC:
- Athlon 1400
- 1GB RAM
- Geforce 4 Ti
runs the game fluidly on 1164 x ... whatever (that resolution just below 1280 x ...)
As long is you got an at least a half-decent video card it really is all about the RAM. Having 512MB RAM will make you lag so much you'll start hating the game. Especially in major cities.

To the OP: What specs does your machine have?

My ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB card has some issues, especially in highly graphic areas (raids, Ironforge), but it runs the game at a solid 50fps in "calm" areas with all settings on low.

The Sapphire Radeon 9600 isn't as good as the 9600XT, but it will run the game fine provided the rest of your computer can run it well.

CPU
AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+

CPU Speed
1.80 GHz Performance Rated at 2.20 GHz

System RAM
512 mb-(might get more because it only meets minium)

Operating System
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2

Video card
the r9600

Would this only handle WOW at medium settings?
