View Full Version : BG scoreboard and honor

Question: Does the scoreboard in the "Leave Battleground" screen have something to do with the amount of honor gained? I'd like to think not, but I'm suddenly not that sure anymore...
The thing is, I started doing WSG with my low level priest, and even though I hate twinks, I took a liking to it. I usually protect the flag runner, rather than going out getting kills, or I stand in the back providing assistance when the party is fighting a battle in the midfield. The thing is, I end up with no more than two or three killing blows (I can see that easily thanks to Spirit Tap ) and therefore at the bottom range of the scoreboard.
But that doesn't mean I get less honor, right? This is not meant to boast, but more often than not we win because three times I was the one supporting the FC. It wouldn't be exactly fair if I got less honor because I got less killing blows, now would it?

KB's have no effect on the amount of honor you get, it is purely HK's that influence your honor.

I'm at work, so i can't check to be 100% sure. But there's a column with KB (useless except for bragging) and a column with HK next to it. From what I understand you get a hk for being close to someone dying, for hitting someone and for healing/buffing someone who then proceeds with a KB. I could be wrong though, I never heal/buff or stand near someone with hittting him
PS:Titanbar has a bit that tells you how much honour you will get/have gotten from your opponents. I'm pretty sure it's titan, could be one of my other mods though

I *think* you also get some honor from capping or returning a flag (or defending or taking a base in AB), but I'm not sure.

True, you also get honour (and rep) for capping a flag, getting x amount of resources in ab and completing an objective in av (like killing the IB garrison dude). That's the same for everyone in the bg, hk can be very different (especially in av iirc)

You get HKs and honor from being in the area of an enemy kill. The kill doesn't have to be made by a member of your group, and you don't have to participate either by dealing damage or healing.
You get bonus honor in WSG when you team caps the flag. You don't have to be the one carrying, nor helping, nor even in the neighborhood.
You get bonus honor in AB from accumulating resources (200 on holiday weekends, 320 on non-holiday weekends).
The final score tab is ranked by killing blows. I'm a rogue, so I like that :) However, the honor received by each player is a combination of: a) honor received from HKs, b) bonus honor as listed in the far right column (from caps or resources).

Well...true, except that the actual tabulation includes whether the honor was received during a BG weekend, and whether the honor was received in the BG highlighted that weekend.
Your display won't generally count that, but it is counted by blizz in your progression up the pvp ladder.

The honor system makes no sense to me. From looking at the ranks on the official WoW site, there are people that are listed in the top 15 for most kills, that are not even listed in the top 1,000 for honor rank!
So you can see what Im talking about for yourself, check the PvP rankings for Medivh Alliance, then click on 'Lifetime Kills'.

you can have 0kb's and lots of deaths in a bg and still get lots of honor :P

Ranks do decay so someone MAY have been very active pvp in the past and have a ton of kills but have had their rank decay over time. IN addition you can have a twink that sits in a lower BG and racks up kills and cannot proceed past a certain rank.
Just two possible scenarios for why you see the discrepancy of rank vs kills.
