I am a bit confused about how bc is gonna effect pvp when it comes out...

1. I realize that the honor ladder is getting broken, but are we going to loose all our honor and have to start from zero or are we going to get some honor tokens (or whatever form it takes) based on our current lifetime kills/current honor ranking?

2. How do you earn pvp tokens so you can purchase stuff? Is it from winning games, from kills or do you automatically get them when you hit a certain amount of honor?

As I understand it:
1. I realize that the honor ladder is getting broken, but are we going to loose all our honor and have to start from zero or are we going to get some honor tokens (or whatever form it takes) based on our current lifetime kills/current honor ranking?
All honor will be reset. You will have the option to display your previous highest rank title, but that's it. Honor is getting wiped and rep may have no future value.

2. How do you earn pvp tokens so you can purchase stuff? Is it from winning games, from kills or do you automatically get them when you hit a certain amount of honor?
I believe you will earn the tokens in the same manner honor is currently earned but it will not decay and you will spend these accumulated points on rewards. I'm not sure if 1 honor = 1 token or if there is a ratio mechanism. The rep and rank rewards are getting rolled into one reward pool and so far I have seen nothing reqarding the future value of rep. Obviously a lot of people are quite angry about it.

If you are near any goals in rank and rep, you should try to reach them prior to the expansion and get whatever rewards you were working for. Expansion launch is going to wipe it all.

(If anyone knows that something above is not correct, feel free to correct me ! I've followed most of the blue posts on it, but I may have missed some point)

So we've heard from the blues that all current equipment PvP rewards will be available via the new pvp system. Has anyone heard about the PvP rank 3 discount? I'm quite fond of paying 10% less for repairs/flights/consumables.

Is that just going away? I'm assuming it is since they're removing gold as PvP currency and replacing it with honor tokens.

There were a couple of nice crossovers from PvP to PvE. The cheap consumables (potions/AV arrows etc/AV spring water), but it appears all of this might be converted into honor tokens.

I guess PvP and PvE are quite different and maybe there shouldn't be as much crossover... but it was sure nice =]

Although the 'reset' of the honor system is basically screwing the dedicated, for a typical player, this change is a good thing.

Honestly, though, this change is probably good for everyone. The grind at the higher pvp ranks were insane and hopefully that won't be necessary any longer.

I agree that the change is going to be better in the long run for everyone, however, what about those that have been doing the grind? I would've thought Blizz would at least give them something to show for the hours and hours they've spent grinding these ranks out, but no, they are just going to have to start all over again and grind the honor tokens to get back to where they were.

For me it's not a problem, I've had a good time with WoW but have no intention of doing the PvP/PvE grind all over again in TBC. I might level 2 of my characters to 70 but it will be done at a leisurely pace probably over only 1-2 nights a week.

Although it doesn't effect me much, I do feel bad for the high rankers who poured time into the game. Did anyone see the charts for estimated weekly hours played on http://blogs.parc.com/playon/? OMG, it's crazy. They estimate that the upper rank people invested 70 hours a week. 70 hours a week!!!!!!

So overall I like the new non-decaying rank system. I want to PvP when I want to, and I don't want to be forced to PvP just to maintain my rank. This is all good.

I was first upset at the whole starting over thing until I thought about it. The new honor system is based off of honor point currency to purchase gear. Well you did the grind up to a certain point to get some gear right? Well you still have it. It's like you spent your honor points and got the gear.

The reset only really screws the point currently doing the grind to get to a set goal. If you don't get to your goal by WoW 2.0, you get screwed and have to start over. I did the grind to rank 8 and bought my 4 piece bonus. The loss of my standing isn't going to hurt me much.

I had wished to get further in the rep for both AB and WSG, but such is life. The rep based items will be available in the new system.... You just need the honor points to get them.

But as alysenne said, to get GM/HW you need to be PvPing like 24 hours a day... 70 hours a week? wtf is up with that... that's almost twice as long as I spend at my job. This is insane.

Ezzaral, are you sure we will display the *highest* rank we've gotten, and not the *current* rank we have when tBC hits?

IIRC, there's going to be choices of all ranks you've had.

and thuogh PvPers who are currently working their asses off getting stuff, they should now know that he honor stuff will be reset/changed, so they have good time to choose to either finish the race (to whatever goal it might be), or to skip ranks they know they wont make it to until next patch hits (which will contain at least some parts of the new honor system AFAIK).
for example, a player half on his way to rank 13 might choose to get rank 13, but a player recently gotten to rank 12 and has a goal to get to rank 14 might also settle on rank 13.

???

Seriously people who have been 14 have their items to show for, why should they get more?

Its like saying that because i have spent so many hours in BWL/ AQ/ Naxx I should get my tier 4 set right away otherwise i would have nothing to show for my countless hours of raiding and would have to start all over again.

Okay this may be a silly question, but will current gear obtained through rep rewards and rank still be available in TBC? It seems logical they would.

AFAIK, each BG will have its own tokens to turn in for gear, so yes, but the system will be a bit different...

or at least i think that is the way its gonna work?

It displays the highest...at least in the beta...

My mage WAS blood guard, but presently is Sgt. The beta displays him as Blood Guard.

They are, pretty much. You buy them using honor pts, and honor tokens from the battlegrounds.

I read that they are going to be releasing the honor system and new talent trees in what is called patch "1.13" which is supposed to be soon... does anyone know if this is true and/or know an estimated date of the release of this patch?

Blimy! A thought just came to me, with the quote "Wipe the slate clean" that should only mean the amount of kills the individual has mad and honor they have recieved, but what about the honor tokens will they be taken from us, I hope not, they are soulbound so I doubt blizz would remove them. I did find out to my amazment that you can only hold 20 tokens for each BG at a time.

I'd be mightly upset on Patch day that I find them all gone! :annoyed:

yea you can only hold 20 tokens but they mail them to you when they fail to go inot your inventory, but the mail only stays 24 hours. So if you plan on cashing a bunch in you got 24 hours to grind the BGs for your tokens, I did that this last weekend and probably got 20k xp from it.

yeah but it's wasted XP on a level 60, plus I'm exalted with AV so the honor tokens are usless for me, Blizz should have thought of this if ya 60 and exalted whats the point in handing them in, especially with the patch coming only being able to hold 20 is taking the p***

I see your point and I agree with what you're saying, up to a point. I don't think i made my thoughts very clear in my post and your reply is discussing items not available until TBC whereas the ranked gear is only viable before TBC (I mean who wants level 60 PvP gear in TBC?) So I shall agree to disagree

I could swear that I saw HWL gear that is level 70 that is able to be purchased using honor pts and tokens...Can't remember if it was in a forum, or when I was playing on one of my beta toons...

Well it's probably true, I haven't spent much time finding out about TBC as I need to spend all my free time at home grinding for my rank

the tbc ranking-gear will be of blue quality though, the arena pieces are the ones of epic quality.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I dont know if I want to continue to PvP when this all takes place. I just found WSG about 2 months ago, and have spent most of my time grinding that. I have like 17,500 rep left to get to exalted, and it makes it more difficult since I'm 39 and have to junk my tokens so i dont go over. I just want to buy the bracers then maybe i'll go back to grinding levels.

I hope they also produce the epic version of general PVP (especially where open PVP and BG is concerned) level 70 gear. I definitely don't want to stay in arena all the time.

You can keep them until you have 3+3 more for Greater Honour...
