Hey everybody,

I noticed that the login screen music for BC was a lot different (one of my friends is beta-testing and let me see--and hear--some of the new stuff...plus I have the beta on my PC so they can use it and so I can mess with a few things) and a lot prettier than the original, but I was wondering if anybody around here uses things like WinMPQ to look through the MPQ files and has found that music file anywhere.

I have searched and searched for hours on end, but I don't see anything that says like "glue screen music"/"intro screen music" or anything like that. I'm hoping somebody around here has managed to find it and can let me know where it is--I would be greatly appreciative. I loved the music in the original, and I love what I'm hearing for BC...I just really want...no, NEED that file, lol. I really want to take it and transcribe it for my Basic Arranging class (I'm a music major) because it's awesome. :cloud9:

It was in one of the MPQ's in the folder inside the data folder I think.

Just get a program that records the audio from programs. Open the Beta begin to record.

Do you have any idea which one? There was (I'm not sure of the exact names, since I'm not on that computer right now) locale, expansion-locale, expansion-speech, speech, backup, and base. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd really, really appreciate it. It's just frustrating sitting for hours looking down the lists, looking for one silly file.:ponder:

My brother suggested that very same thing, and that's what I'm going to end up doing if I can't find the file anywhere. I just figure that since it's in the game, it HAS to be in one of the MPQ files, just like the "wow_main_theme" file was in the original. There's no way for it to be in the game otherwise.

Nice to see a fellow musician! I dont have the beta myself but if you want to I could help you transcribe it. From what I heard in the original wow music Jason Hayes mostly use diatonic and modal progressions with classic arranging concepts it shouldnt be to hard.

One of my favourite wow pieces is the mixolydian inn music I took it out on my guitar maybe I'll record it sometime :)

I just checked, and there's also common.MPQ and expansion.MPQ directly in the data folder (the rest were in enUS)--I've never been able to open common, and expansion has all of the music...except for that one file (unless it falls under one of the zones)...there are Azuremyst, BladesEdge, Bloodmyst, CavernsOfTime, Eversong, Ghostlands, HellfirePeninsula, Nagrand, Netherstorm, OutlandGeneral, ShadowmoonValley, Terokkar, and ZangarMarsh folders, plus a random GuldansEntranceTheme.mp3, but no intro...

I think I'm just going to go with your suggestion, TJCaine--it's getting frustrating looking over and over again for it.

Morail--I'd love to hear a recording of the inn music on guitar; that would be freakin' sweet!

If anybody would like the login screen music to complete their BC music collection, I finally just recorded it and saved as an mp3: Right-click me and choose "Save As..."! (http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~redwoodbandgeek/wow_bc_intro.mp3)

It's really nice, much better than any of my expectations. Really beautiful.

In the latest patch there is 'Rest Area' music which is also pretty nice. Basicly a bit of Tavern music and other areas like the Temple of the Moon that match the individual races more.
