Hi all;

I so much enjoyed Faeroon's post about the mage/priest/warlock debate that I have decided to post my own. The answers supplied to him were both well thought out and well written. Hoping that some of you can supply the same to me.

My Dilemma

I have recently started playing again on a new server. After experimenting for some time with several classes, I have come up with a few classes that I enjoy playing. These include:

Warrior - enjoy playing, but not so happy about the dependency on healers. If I were more social in game this would be less of a problem, but...

Paladin - Have very much enjoyed playing, but am concerned about usefulness in later instances.

Druid - Again, have very much enjoyed playing, but noticed that I got my arse handed to me on a platter at level 19 in WSG. I know it does get better with cat form, but am wondering if the persistant rumours about druids being Pvp weak are true.

Priest - Mixed feelings here. The helpful nature of the priest enables to get over some of my social shyness in the game (I know Im contributing something). I have read that Shadow Priests can be very good in Pvp, but at this point (at level 18) I have some misgivings about the viability of Pvp with this character. It seems to me, he isnt all that strong.

The Complicating Factor

My son has started to play with me on the new server. Its been a blast. He has started a warrior. However, his play time is limited, so I will need to play one character with him and another for myself. I currently have a rogue levelling with him. Our reasoning for a rogue warrior was for Pvp, however we will still need to level them and I'm concerned about the lack of healing in this duo for PVE.

The Question

Which makes the best duo for my son who has the warrior? This duo is primarily designed to excel at pvp, but will need to be viable in Pve:

Warrior/Rogue
Warrior/Druid
Warrior/Paladin
Warrior/Priest

Thanks for any and all responses!

Warrior benefits the most from heals out of any class in the game.

Priests are imo the best pvp healers. Shield lets them survive while healing, and they can heal extremely fast w/ flash heal or pump out a huge heal as well. A huge advantage priests have when teamed w/ a warrior is the ability to dispell crowd controlling effects that typically own warriors such as frost nova, roots, etc.

I am a druid, and i'd have to say priest is better pure healing in pvp. Druid's "flash heal" (rank 4 ht) is great for pve, but pvp its not so hot, while their regrowth is extremely mana inneficient. Druids can combo a big heal with nature's swiftness though for a big 4k instant heal :). Druids are very versatile. A druid can sneak around making somone less likely to run away from the warrior. Roots can help, but are very unreliable. Druid's also have various stuns, charges, travel forms, etc. that help to keep them out of trouble.

I'm horde and I don't know a thing about pallies except their blessing of freedom would prolly help warriors alot, and they are less squishy than a priest.

Rogue's and warriors don't help each other that well. Warrior's small 1s stun from charge affects the rogue's diminishing returns, and warriors bleeds tend to break gouges.

Warrior/Paladin is an awesome combo. All those Blessings, plus the occasional huge lump of burst damage from the Pally. Bloody good for PvP, good for PvE.

I'm fairly sure that a paladin will pair best with a warrior. One of the warrior's main hinderances is range. If you can't stay in range, you can't do damage, and if you can't do damage, you can't win. With a paladin, between blessing of freedom, intercept, hamstring, and Hammer of Justice, and low cost spammable heals, that warrior is going to stay alive and in your opponents face for a LONG time, dishing out some sick damage.

Shadow Priest imo.
