View Full Version : How will you spend the remaining time until BC hits?

OK, with today's press release confirming the delay of BC until January 2007, we now know for sure that BC retail is still 2-3 months away. At the same time, information regarding itemization is leaking out from the BC Beta, and we're getting a glimpse of quested greens and 5-man blues that in some cases outclass even AQ40 and Naxx epics - evidence of the much debated "loot reset".
Looking strictly at the loot aspects of this, I can't really see any reason to spend the remaining 2-3 months dedicated to hardcore raiding, as the loot you get from this will be outclassed pretty soon anyway. This certainly seems to apply to MC and BWL gear; AQ40 and Naxx stuff will last quite a bit longer, but the vast majority of players are not in AQ40 or beyond.
Personally, I value the challenges and fun factors in raiding far above the loot that can be obtained from it, so I actually think the delay is a good thing. It will allow me to experience BWL and possibly also AQ40 as they were intended to be played, before everything changes and the focus will be on the new endgame. Any and all loot I might get out of it will just be a bonus, as these items will be replaced by Outland pieces soon enough. I will probably end up spending my dkp pretty casually, as I know for sure that these items are not in any way permanent upgrades.
It seems to me that WoW is in the "quiet before the storm"-phase, as more and more information on the Burning Crusade becomes available - and people might be reluctant to invest as heavily in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if some guilds have problems filling their raids now, as players don't find MC and BWL to be worth the effort, this close to BC release.
One additional aspect which now seems fruitless and futile is the reputation grinds, in particular with hardcore factions like CC. The Burning Crusade will most likely offer new factions to gain reputation with, with dramatically better rewards - so unless you're not at Revered or above already, the effort required to get the rep seems to be lacking compared to what you get out of it.
The activity that I can foresee being worth it is leveling up alts, possibly getting yet another 60 by the time BC hits. For my sake I have two 60s (Priest and Mage), and the delay might provide me with enough time to get my 3rd and possibly 4th 60. What equipment level they're at seems to be pretty much irrelevant, as they can head into Outlands and get significant upgrades - possibly leapfrogging tier 0, 0.5 and 1 in the process.
So that's pretty much what I'll do in the next 2-3 months - leveling up alts and also pushing my Mage through MC and BWL (and possibly AQ40), the latter simply for the fun and the experience of it. I will probably not get to see Naxx as it was intended to be played, but I can live with that - with my busy real life schedule I have to make concessions, and Naxx is and will still be too hardcore for my taste, at least at 60. I will most likely get to Naxx at lvl 65+, assuming my guild actually wants to go there.
What else is there to do while we wait for BC? Hoard gems and ore for Jewelcrafting? Save up lots of gold for running expenses in Outlands? Clear out the quest log to prepare for the new Outland quests?
Any and all thoughts and comments are appreciated :)

I'm going to get my alchemy up to 300 (on my rogue) then I'm taking a break from WoW. I wanna start fresh when the expansion comes out and with Neverwinter nights 2 being released next week I think I'll have another game to play :)

I plan to finish all the quests I've ignored for too long. Once I hit 60 with my characters I just kind of quit questing and started either farming / raiding / or BG's. Questing is fun, gives good gold, can have nice rewards, and will clear my log. I want to have 20 spots available for BC quests when the time comes.

In the next mont, I'll :
Enjoy raiding as an event with friend not as a epic farming session.
leveling alt, cuz nobody will run lowbies in SM/RFD after BC come out cuz everyone will rush to the new zone and level their main. It's the time anyway, people do nothing actually because they are "scared to waste their time" since BC's coming in 3 month, instead of enjoying the game.

Hoarding my DKP to blow on Atiesh when we start downing Naxx bosses mostly. That and gathering jewelcrafting mats and twink gear for my draenei.
As far as BC factions go, yes there will be new ones:
Alliance:
Exodar
The naaru vessel that brought the draenei to Azeroth. Though stranded in the Azuremyst Isles, it acts as a home city for this noble race.
Honor Hold
Vestiges of the Sons of Lothar, veterans of the Alliance that came first into Draenor, have steadfastly held on to this Hellfire outpost. They are now joined by the armies from Stormwind and Ironforge.
Horde:
Silvermoon City
The capital of Quel'Thalas, home of the blood elves. Though nearly destroyed by Arthas' attack on the Sunwell, Silvermoon is once again a thriving city.
Thrallmar
The expedition sent through the Dark Portal by Thrall has built a stronghold in Hellfire Peninsula. Thrallmar serves as a base of operations for much of the Horde's activities in Outland.
Tranquillien
Once a high elf town, Tranquillien became abandoned after the Scourge invaded Quel'Thalas. It has now been reclaimed by the Forsaken and the blood elves who seek to rid the Ghostlands of the Scourge.
Shattrah City (neutral):
The Aldor
An ancient order of Draenei priests once run by Velen, the Aldor are currently led by High Priestess Ishanah. They are servants of the naaru in Shattrath City known as the Sha'tar. Rivals of the Scryers.
The Scryers
Voren'thal the Seer leads the dissident blood elves who've rejected Kael'thas' path to power. They've joined forces with the naaru of Shattrath City, much to the dismay of the Aldor.
The Sha'tar
The Sha'tar are a group of powerful naaru who rule over a rebuilt Shattrath City. With the help of the Aldor and the Scryers, they lead the battle against Illidan and the Burning Legion.
Rest of Outland (neutral):
Cenarion Expedition
An exploratory force sent to Outland by the Cenarion Circle to study surviving life forms. The Cenarion Expedition has quickly gained in size and autonomy since the opening of the Dark Portal.
Sporeggar
The sporelings are a mostly peaceful race of mushroom-men native to Outland. Their home is located in the southern bogs of Zangarmarsh.
Kurenai
Draenei for "redeemed". These Broken have escaped the grasp of their various slavers and have made their home in Nagrand. It is there that they seek to rediscover their destiny.
The Consortium
Led by Nexus-Prince Haramed, the Consortium is a loosely affiliated cartel of ethereal smugglers, traders and thieves that has come to Outland to benefit from its riches.
The Mag'har
This reclusive group of brown-skinned orcs has escaped any form of demonic corruption. They have retained their traditional way of life in the face of great changes in Outland.
Other (neutral):
The Violet Eye
A secret sect founded by the Kirin Tor to spy on Medivh and his activities.

I'm going to be PvPing like a mad man until BC comes out. I finally hit revered with AV and WSG this week and am at rank 8. Hopefully I can get to at least rank 12-13 before BC....maybe even High Warlord is possible now : - )

finally clearing out the quests i've had forever... i hate pug's, and our guild is so small, that i have 15 dungeon quests to take care of. this has become a guild priority lol... we've allied with a bigger guild now, so we're also learning to raid the big dungeons.
also, i'm saving every gp i can to cover expenses in outland.
now, if i could only decide what to do first when BC comes out... roll up draeni and blood elf chars, or start to lvl to 70???

I'll try to get more alts to 60 and save up some gold I think. Get some professions to 300 or over for those possible (like mining /skinning / herb /alchem) maybe i'll try to level engineering for once... I'll try to be less dependant on everybody else for the expansion : i.e. not having to buy arcane crystals, stuff like that. this way, I can save on expenses when BC comes out. And since it will mostly be a gear reset for the most part, maybeI'll switch main and drop my druid since it looks like we are getting laughed at with the exp and play one of my new lvl 60 a bit more. Especially since I don't want to be 80 years old and transform my own self into a tree of lollife before I turn 70 with my resto druid... ;) or even flight ''lol'' form at 68 :)
which I don't see why we can't use in combat as it will be to flee mostly and I don't see anything that makes me able to flee overpowered more than bubble hearth... not like by flying away I'll cast a nuclear bomb killing everything in a 70 yards radius. But that's another subject ;)
Some people are saying that they will bust theirselve out in PVP to get rank 14. Quite frankly, it will be even harder to get as a lot of people will also have this genius idea so more people will be pvping, all that for obsolete gear within the first few level of BC.
If you're having fun at pvping sur go for it, else, don't waste your time on that, it's just not worth it ;)
If you actually plan on playing BC and leveling to 70, people are better to start preparing themselves slowly but surely... ;)
Which mean, farm gold, get your profession up. Keep high level items, sell the rest (unless you're planning on getting a new race twink or alt).
For now, sure a large brilliant shard is nice, but lvl 65-70 enchanting and other professions mats will blow off the need for large brilliant shard and other ''current'' high level stuff.
I don't think arcane crystal will sell for as much as they do now, just like other mats. You have to remember that gathering that mats will be a lot easier. It's almost going to become as trivial for 2 lvl 70 to clear scholo and get as many shards as they want. I'm sure some people already do it... ;)
I might be wrong, but that's my PoV ;)

Well, let's see... during the interrim:
Work -- well, my job tends to be busy, and it takes a large portion of my time.
School -- a good deal of the time that my work does not take, is taken up by school.
Girlfriend -- A lot of the time I'm not at work or in school, I am with my girlfriend and her kids.
WoW:BC Beta -- What little time I have for WoW, I've been playing with the Beta -- I have my 60 Orc Hunter, my 60 Tauren Druid, and my BE Paladin & Draenei Shaman to keep me busy there.
That's basically the summary of what I'll do until BC hits the shelves.

If I can find the time with school and all to get back on I will:
Get my Tradeskills (Engineering and Mining) to 300. (At least making Thorium Bullets)
Since my guild is relativly young on the raiding (we just started ZG, our first raid dungeon when I left 2 months ago), try and get in the best gear possible (Tier 1.5, 2, 2.5ish)
Farm Deadmines for lowbie gear for all the new lowbie players that will be coming up. (I gaurantee this will be good money, farming Deadmines and Ragefire Chasam as people will be wanting to buy lowbie gear for their Draeni/Belf Alts that they'll be making)

... And I will level up my Tauren Shaman to 60, and work on my Night Elf Druid probably until 60 as well. I don't really have a main character yet, but the Tauren is the one I have leveled the highest. I might make a Night Elf Rogue. I dunno yet.
I really want to make a Blood Elf Paladin (or Rogue) and a Draenei Paladin when the expansion comes out. I already have my "names" saved on my server. I can't wait! :)

welp, we only have 5 (i think..) bosses down in Naxx so we want to continue to clear the instance.. not for gear mind you, but just to have the accomplishments.
We know that the gear is getting "reset" of sorts and we all love that idea. It gives us a fresh start to try and better ourselves again.
So i will be leveling up an alt, and continuing with my Naxx runs.
maybe gathering all kinds of gear for my new exp alt...or whatever.
I wont stop raiding because my gear will be somewhat outdated.. i raid because i enjoy the experience and accomplishments.. the gear is a bonus

We're at C'Thun in AQ40 and have only downed Raz and Anub in Naxx. My pre-TBC priorities are, in order of importance:
(a) Get my Druid Exalted with Zandalar (10000/21000 at the moment)
(b) See C'Thun downed.
(c) Kill as many bosses as possible in Naxx.
(d) Get my Warlock, who is currently L19, to 60.

Getting Nefarian down, acctually our goal is before x-mas, but before TBC works too.
Getting rid of my GS shoulders since I don't like how they look on me. If only Chromaggus would stop dropping 2x of the same shoulders all the time, none being DS so far.
Getting my DS pants from Rag (again, not a single pair since we downed him first time... we're at the point of sharding other classes pants now).
Getting to exalted with Zandalar, might a stretch since we rarely do ZG, but I'm not that far off.
