View Full Version : The Changes to CS & Vengence: A Question

With the changes made to these two talents (particularly CS), I see a lot of people talking about Paladins in the expansion not being any different than the off-healer role they have now in the original game. What I'm wondering is: did CS really make that much of a difference in respect to the Paladin's role where people believe that with the CD increased to 10 seconds they've lost all viability outside of being a healer?

CS = ? (sorry, highest-level paladin I have is 11)

Crusader Strike, I'm guessing.

Crusader Strike the new 41 point Ret. talent :)

A lot of people aren't happy because of the increase from a 6 second to 10 second cooldown, so their reasoning is with 20 second judgements, if the first CS was resisted/parried/whatev, the second would have to be exactly on the 20 second mark or all of the judgements fall of the mob.

even though I do not play the beta, nor play a paladin, all I can say is that I were quite scared when I saw the 2xPaladins Arena PvP Video...

those Paladins were specced holy though IIRC for Holy Shock, but I'd think Crusader Strike would be at least as powerful as Holy shock in terms of damage...

IIRC that arena video was shot when there was a bugged judgement, can't recall off the top of my head which it was but I believe it was eventually fixed.

this actually poses a HUGE problem. i am speccing 41 ret for raids even after i hit lvl 70 for the very reason that i can keep multiple judgements up on the target without the need for constant re-judging or other pallys DPSing the same target. the longer CD will make this VERY difficult, especially if it does not hit the target on the first go around as Psyclon suggests.

i can see where it being a 6 sec CD would make us a tad overpowered for PVP though. it is unfortunate that an otherwise extraordinary and useful ability has to be nerfed so that a percentage are happy, while at the same time putting a much larger burden on the other percentage who see CS as a great benefit to a raid party.

I think that's why a lot of people believe (and I agree) that 8 seconds would be a happy medium. I personally feel the way Blizzard has it set up now is all part of their Risk vs. Reward mindset. They're looking at a roll of the dice as to whether it will land or not. 8 seconds would at least give a 2 second window of opportunity to try and get the effect back up, instead of hoping you get it off before the buffs disappear (and having to reapply everything).
