Hi,

i have been doing AV for 3 weeks now, and i am experiencing a lack of spirit.
Spirit being the WILL to win, people seem to be only going for the simple HK or the honor farming. I hate that!
Where are the people that want to do that, which they enjoy on a reasonably good level, and dont feel raped when they dont get it? (you might have to read this twice to get it)

I just get the idea that people dont care about winning or losing as a team, they only care about what they gain out of an hour long AV even if they dont win.

Is the math really that hard or am i just a missplaced mage that likes to win?

Had to say this, sorry. I just lost 3 AV's in a row and i hate losing :)

Cheers

What time of the day did you do these AV's? I've experienced that I've won more AV's on a Saturday afternoon then a week day evening, say for instance, last night I did 4 AV's from 6pm till 11:30pm, we won 3 but the forth one we lost horribily! I can only assume that all the adult players have logged off as theres work in the morning (to which reminded me to do the same) and the kiddies that are off at the moment (here in england) stayed up and where play for the giggle.

Now I'm not saying that all kids are crap at AV, I'm just saying that depending on the time + chat + holidays = kids staying later then the adults, plus in the previous AV's the chat was slightly more mature and the tactics was more organised, while the last was very scatty.

So I'd suggest, doing AV earlier on in the day, or just keep it to weekends maybe.

actually what it could be from what I read in post about TBC and PVP, the lack of Spirit could be from the 70hours of playing wow, the brain can only take so much haha!!

This is why (in some part) the honor system is being revamped. Many times you get more honor out of losing three AVs in an hour than winning an evenly matched game in two hours.

So what you end up with is a bunch of guys trying to maintain or further their pvp rank and would rather get into the next BG than win.

er...well, I disagree....PVP rank help is much more easily obtained in AB and WSG...

Most folks in AV want the rep....

While I agree more people are there for rep than honor... I disagree that people don't go there for honor.

Most... but if all you are interested in is rep then long games should suit you. You get way more rep when you have people working on all the turn in quests and what not. When I was grinding rep with AV I used to love the longer games as opposed to the races. In the longer games you can pull down like upwards of 2k in rep depending on how well the game goes. In a race that you lose you might get 400. So if they are there for rep they should welcome a long fight IME.

Plus more people are doing AV for rank since they changed the map and the games are much faster. You risk having games just as long in WSG if a team turtles. And in AV because it's 40 vs. 40 you're not running into the diminishing returns on HKs as fast. AB is the only map where you know it's only going to last for a relatively short time.

When I was making my final push through 1000/1000 exalted with AV I racked up 170k honor in one day... it's not the honor wasteland that it used to be.

...but you earn less per kill....

I tried playing Horde, but the sheer size of the egos over there more than make up for the population imbalance.

Don't hate me because I kick your beautiful elf behind all over the map.

I can't play the Alliance either, really. I have an alt that I have worked up to about 20, but I can't bring myself to invest alot of time in him. Partly because he's Alliance, but also partly because I can't see working on another character when I have a 55+ /played day character, exalted in all 3 BG's, previous rank 10, epic mount, etc. With him I can just log on, and do whatever I want rather than worrying about having to go grind or whatever. Right now I'm working on the last bit of my new tradeskills (Mining and Goblin Engineering now, was Herb/Alch), and finally working fishing/cooking up to 300. Then it's on to the weapon skills to 300.

The difference is... I already have my gear, and I'm max level, and have my epic mount, etc. So if I get bored of that, or running 5 mans, or farming, or questing, etc... I can queue up and PVP, without having to worry about not being level X9 in the bracket, or not having good enough gear.

But I think the biggest reason is that he's Alliance. =P

Stupid gnomes.
