I've always wonder why raid leaders keep saying "everyone do maximum dps on this boss" What, are they going to do half dps? Quarter? Either they're doing DPS or theyre standing around /dancing.

Please enlighten me if there is something else to this stupid phrase I haven't figured out. (sorry for being negative im in a bad mood today lol)

lots of classes, lock/mage/rogue/ for a few can pull aggro if they go all out on some bosses/trash.

Yes, often they are holding back on some encounters to prevent such.

To expand on this.

Some encounters need a little extra time for the tank to get positioned and fill his rage bar in order to start laying down Sunders, Revenges, etc. and ensure aggro sticks.

One encounter that comes to mind is Onyxia. A lot of the times, we do "light DPS" for the first 30 seconds or so (auto-attacking, also known as "white damage", only ... that means wanding for the casters, autoshots for the hunters, etc).

yeah you do no dps at the first stages.. while tank gains aggro.. low dps for tank to maintain aggro.. and full out when he has enough...

There's also fights like Raggy where ranged DPS can go full out from the start without worrying about getting agro.
