At what lvl can you start doing raids? Also what is the minimum group size? I know it varies for different raids but are their 5 man raids you can do or only like 20 or 40?

you can do 5 man raids at like level 10ish i think. Im thinking Rage Fire chasm is 10ish but its somwhere around that level. I thik most people wait to level 20ish because there isnt much reason to raid at that low level.

Well, you can form raids at any level 10+ with anywhere from 2 to 40 players.

5-man intances start with Wailing Caverns around L10-15 (Horde only); and there are 5-man instances approximately every 5-7 levels all the way through to L60. These are 5-man instances and only require a 1-5 man party; they cannot be access in a raid.

"Raid instances" are either 10-man, 20-man, or 40-man. The lowest level 'raid instance" is Blackrock Spire (UBRS/LBRS) and allows access at, I believe, L51 ... but is geared towards L57+. You cannot complete LBRS quests in a raid, but you can 10-man it for loot. LBRS is for a 5-man party or a 10-man raid; UBRS is for a 10-man raid.

Zul'Gurub is 20-man and allows access at L51 (I believe), but is for L60 players ... you won't get anything done at L51. The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj is a 20-man, L60 raid. Onyxia's Lair, Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, and Naxxramus are all L60 40-man raids.

Uldaman is lower level insance, and can be done with more than 5 people. Unless it's changed. I haven't been there in over a year, so there may have been an update that changed that since then. Can anyone that has been there recently shed some light on this?

Wailing Caverns isn't Horde only. I'd hesitate to take a group of low level toons there, though. It is in the Barrens which is Horde territory (They can attack you when they want to, you can't attack them until they do.) It is also a fairly long walk to get there.

I'm pretty sure that you can form a raid at any level. I think I saw a movie one time of a lvl 1 naked gnome raid on Org.

They can attack you when they want to, you can't attack them until they do

This is only true on a PVP server.

5-man intances start with Wailing Caverns

Actually, RFC is an instance lower than WC....I challenge any group of 10's to take on even RFC, much less WC.

Oops, yup, should read "Ragefire Chasm at L10-15".

My mistake. I only have one Horde toon.

I think you can raid some of the lower instances, but you'll get a 50% XP penalty from being a raid making it much less rewarding. Added to that, you won't get credit for any quests.

I remember doing SFK with 6 after the fix at least (the one making UBRS 10 man etc).

Oops...I totally didn't mean Uldaman. Hahaha. I was meaning Maraudon. I remember doing Maraudon with 10 people long ago, if my memory serves me correctly. Is it still the same now? It's been somewhere around 2 years for me, so I have no clue if this was changed, or if i'm just old and senile.

Only LBRS and UBRS are 10-man raidable, now.

That's too bad that it changed. Maraudon gave people a feel for how a true raid party was like. It was my first experience, and many others I'm sure, in a 10 man raid. I think it was a good way to introduce people to the mechanics of a raid party. UBRS seems a bit extreme for people that are 10 man raiding for the first time. I was more confident going into UBRS after some 10 man experience in Maraudon.
