Trying to find an official thread on when the amt of dmg gets resisted between tiers. I hear it takes 25 FR to get to the next "level" of resistance i.e. more resist from 125 than 100 etc..
Anyone have any insight or can redirect me to a previous post?

I could explain but this link does it perfectly and it's official:

Let me know if there's anything you don't understand :) .

Hmmm, ok. Thank you.
The reason I was asking is our guild was having a large discussion on amounts of FR for the Vaelestraz fight and how much damage our tanks at 300+ take vs. a tank at 273 or so.

i know my guild downed vael for the first time last night, and me and the other tanks each used a mixture of tank/FR gear sitting around 190 fr w/o totem(horde side). note: we killed him on our second attempt EVER, so it works

315 FR = 75% reduction. 105 FR = 25% reduction. 210 = 50% reduciton. All against lvl63s. Cap is 75% reduction or you could've been immune with 420...
Each 4.2% gives a 1% damage reduction on average basically. Each point matters there are no breakpoints, and the numbers on the official site are only true when you have exactly their listed resistance and are fighting something that is level 50.
273 FR = 65% reduction, so taking 35% fire damage. Compared to the 25% damage a 315 FR tank would take it's 1.4 times the fire damage. Vael isn't all fire damage at all though on tanks (although I'd still wear full FR gear) so it's not really 1.4 times but it shows you how much it matters to have that extra FR.

our tanks stick around 200 FR for the vael fight (basicly wear your FR that has good stats and the rest tank gear) and it works out fine for us.
