Hi I just started to PVP and I have a bit of a newb question, I was dueling a Priest 3 levels ( I am 48, he was 51) ahead of me, and was doing very well, but all of a sudden he disappeared, and I could not find him, he/healed and regained all his mana. I still won but I was wondering what he used, and how I can counter it?
As far as I know priest don't have anything that stealths them or makes them invisible...?
You need to check your combat log matey...
Invisibility Potion maybe? otherwise, maybe he is just special :/

Hey, im a mage, and whenever something/someone disapears on me is use arcane explosion, or if im sure enough he/she is still clos, ill just frost nova and get 2 nice crits in a row^^.
So my tip would be to use any AOE spells/abilitys to draw them out.
And IIRC there is a potion that grants you invisibility, maybe that was the thing that was used( sorry about the grammatically passive sentence, i was tired of typing "he/she" :P)
Cheers

Oh I just thought of something, he was a night elf. Although I've never played night elf, I remember from WC3 they have a cloak ablitly, I assume this is true in WOW as well? Is there anyway to counter it? I am a warlock btw.
Stealth from felhunter perhaps?
The 'shadowmeld' ability can only be used out of combat. And you wont need felhunter for that, the stealth is not that high rank, your Detect Invisibility should do the trick unless you prefer fighting with a felhunter against casters (usually a good idea because of spell lock anyways)

Iirc, pot of invis cant be used in combat, same thing for shadowmeld...BUT (i wouldnt post without a possible answer ::grin:: ) there is gnomish cloaking device which iirc can be used in combat. I'm no engineer but I'm 70% sure :p

Maybe he just left for another battleground.

I thought invisibility and stealth were different. To my knowledge detect invisibility will not help you see stealthed rogues/druids or shadowmelded elves.

yes, true. Detect Invis is useless for stealthed chars, like shadowmelded ones. Also, shadowmeld is quite powerful. You can nearly step on a shadowmelded elf before you see it. I don't know why this is so, the stealth figures I can get indicate that shadowmeld is just a basic form of stealth. However, in reality it is quite powerful, even for equal lvls. Maybe the internet data transfer speeds influence this, I don't know
This "disappearing" phenomenon sounds a bit dodgy to me.
However, what I encountered in AV a few days ago, was an alliance priest turning green to me all of a sudden. We were fighting, when he was close to death he sort of changed sides, ie became green, like he was MCed (mind-controlled). But there was no-one else around, and he did some rude gestures to me while MCed (let's just say he was MCed since I have no clue how this happened). After a while he turned red again and I finished him off.
Can a char MC himself? Or how would such a thing possibly be enacted?

Ummm, I think you'll find it was you that was MC'd?!?
EDIT: Yes it was intended to be sarcastic, however I now feel kind of guilty that it might be too sarcastic.

I will deem that a genuine question. No, I wasn't MCed. I could move freely and we had our own guards all around us at that moment

Using the engeneering mind-control cap can backfire iirc. Leading to the user being mc'ed. Could have been that?

Ohh that sounds like a very strange parodox, MC'ing yourself while MC'ing yourself, while MC'ing yourself!!!
Oh dear my head hurts

Smells like an Engineering Priest anyway.
Dissapearing mid-fight, turning green-conned, ... Them gnomes are no good I tells ya.
