Hi ppl,
Before we start out, I know that what I'm about to post will make me look like a cheater trying to look innocent, so I'm asking you guys to give me the benefit of the doubt.
I was banned from Wow yesterday, and while I would love to be able to post the exact email I received for the ban, I can't because the email I used to create my wow account over a year ago is no longer active and I hadn't thought about updating my account (tried yesterday and can't figure out how to update it anyway), so basically, I never received the email banning me.
I'm just guessing here, but I presume that the ban was based on one of 2 things:
use of bottomfeeder, or use of a bot. Let me explain.
I know that the author of bottomfeeder has been asked to stop development. However, I also know that the bottomfeeder addon was never declared illegal, just frowned upon. I never abused it, the most I bought with it was a stack of 3 spider webs and some other item I can't remember, for a total of mayber 60 silver pieces. (TBH I doubt bottomfeeder was the reason since I had just started using it).
The second and most likely reason I'm guessing at is use of a bot. While scanning forums the other day (tbh there I had too many forums open to remember which), and I found what appeared to be a character profiler program (similar to magelo).
I ran the program, ran Wow, and it took me all of about 2 minutes to figure out it was somekind of botting program (the part that asked for coordinates kind of gave it away). I immediately exited the program, and erased the program.
When I was banned, I immediatly sent an email to WoWAccountReviewEU@blizzard.com explaining both situations, asking them to resend the ban notice to my new email, and profusely apologizing for both situations if they were the cause of the ban. I also requested they verify their records to see that the bot program wasn't used for more than 2 mins, and the most I've accumulated from bottomfeeder was a few silver.
What's troubling me is that after scanning forums, google, etc today, everywhere I look it indicates that bans are generally final and that it takes quite a while to get any response to emails.
Finally my questions:
Can anyone indicate anything else I can do to appeal my case?
Can anyone tell me of account review success story?
If my appeal is unsuccessful, will I still be able to use my cd key for a new account or will I have to buy a new box?
Thanks for the patience.
