Got a beta-key in my mail box today, nothing in game though.
Now I have never been on the previous beta or done anything outstanding in the world of WoW, how do I know it is real as I have to visit a site and enter my details (Account name and pasword and key). Am I just a random lucky player?

Mail from: noreplyeu@blizzard.com
Have to visit:
https://beta.wow-europe.com/expansion/
https://beta.wow-europe.com/expansion/upgradeAccount.html

Just want to be safe, looks for real and all =)

Thanks in advance.

Yes, they are handing out random beta keys, you've just won the beta lottery and it's legit - that's exactly how the page looked for me when I upgraded my account to be able to copy characters into the beta BC realms.

wow-europe is definitely the legit site but if you want to be cautious, do not click any links in the email. Go to your browser and type in the address and if the email was legit, your username and password should get you in.

Rule of thumb is never click links within emails. An example is the usual ebay scam where they have a link in the email and it takes you to a page which is a 100% replica of ebay but you just have to take note of the address that appears in the bar as it will probably be an ip address or something. They're getting a lot more thorough when it comes to replicating legit sites.

Enjoy Beta you lucky <insert some colourful descriptions> :p

Uhhh...YES, they do...They ask for pw when you log into the forums, and ask for the pw and the beta key (not a CD-KEY) when you upgrade your account to play the beta.

I got one mail like that too, gmx user here, I wrote the adress manually into the browser, upgraded my account and changed the password for security reasons, but I logged just fine, so its legit :)

It's legit as stated by others.

Bliz wont _ask_ for your password ingame, trough a forum or over the phone but naturally they'll have you type it in for account management, forums, login to the game, upgrade the account and so on.

As others have also said; just copy the urls / manually type them.

Phishing works by having an url, www.example.com in a mail or whatever actually go to www.scamersrus.com but still looking like its over at example.com.

So if you type it in and the address is legit, its all good.

Very, very simplified but you get the gist :).

If you have Norton, run a check on each link they give.

Well im not naked so all seems fine :)
Question though, I got to copy character screen and I can choose from all servers :s and it refers to public test realm :s

Should I not get a choice of the 4 beta servers?

Should I not get a choice of the 4 beta servers?

two beta, not 4.....

Hellfire, and something else...The PTR servers are on the same system as the beta servers, so you might see the ptr's as well...

Logging into the PTR server using the beta client will bamboozle it....so don't try...

Also, if you already were on the PTR, it may not let you do the beta...

er....disguised in my prior post is one of them...Hellfire...

I don't play the pvp beta server, so I can't recall its name.
