Is the patch out today? I got message telling me that the new patch will update while I play the game, and Blizzard background Downloader is running, but its not actually downloading, was it not recently that this patch went to PTR, or is this some kind of mistake?

Although it has not finish downloading yet, it takes forever for me on the BB downloader, I also noticed that all the realms are going to be offline, so perhaps we will be getting our patch, I just find it weird that there is no news about this, and patches usually come out on tuesday...

It's only 35mb. And I don't see why you'd need advance notice. There isn't actually that much being added to the game files when you think about it

Except the honor is going away and I don't want to waste my time in AV if it's for naught.

I'm 99.9% sure it will NOT be released tomorrow. We haven't even been able to test the crap, and as many say, some of the talents aren't working properly. Supposedly it's supposed to come out in December. In other words, a minimum of 10 (9 if you count it to be Tuesday.) more days.

As a guildie reminded me, it has actually been tested for a month or so now in beta ;) All of the interface changes, honor changes, lfg changes, talent changes, etc, etc, etc. have all been tested out thoroughly already despite Blizz making a meal out of the PTR in the last week.
It is a very valid point that the main reason it wouldn't be going ahead is because the talents haven't all been fixed, eg. rampage on the warrior fury tree is still giving double the AP it's supposed to in Beta...I'm not in Beta testing so I can't say for sure that it hasn't been fixed but that's what the Beta forums are saying.
The other thing is that maybe Blizz is forcing this patch through early to give them enough time to prepare the "opening of the dark portal" event.
We'll soon find out though :p

Osiris says that some of the Rogue abilities/talents (Including Mutilate) aren't working correctly. I believe he said that under 3 days ago. They may have had Beta testers working on it, but that's NOWHERE near the amount of people that would be testing it on PTR's.

I've just been informed that after some digging on the official forums, a guildie has found that blizz has said the patch is not this Tuesday. They are in the process of having the patch download in instalments because it is supposed to be HUGE and they want only a very small portion of it to be left by patch day.
Estimated time - 2 weeks
Yes I know the post doesn't exist without me linking but I only have heresay to deal with while I'm at work because the official forums are blocked.
I think that feels a bit more realistic. I forgot about the new battleground and things like that, makes the patch all that more substantial.

Yeah that makes more sense, 35 seemed kinda small. Ive left the downloader for hours now and its still at 86kb/35mb.

When does Winter Veil start? Maybe the patch will come in just before the start of that so the event content can be added at the same time.

Yeah, mine's been stuck at 13% (5MB) for hours it seems.
13% = 5 MB means the patch will 30 MB...that is definitely not THE patch.
EDIT: Note to self - read entire thread before posting - several small packages over some weeks...makes sense.

Honor system is removed so the earned Honor (and Reputation with current battleground factions) is made meaningless.
Also if the patch is out next week then the Honor earned this week is also made meaningless since they can't update you to a new rank after the honor system is scrapped.
Not to say PvP'ing is pointless since its pretty fun. But farming PvP Battlegrounds to death is pretty pointless at the moment (was it ever meaningful?).

BG farming is beyond useless at this point unless you've got a few wins left to exalted imo.
Also, keep in mind the PTR build wasnt all up to sync with the latest beta build. And even though the beta is bugged with some talents and skills, its not sure that bliz havent fixed these issues allready on their internal builds.
The beta builds arent the latest builds available, its just the most recent data pushed out.
Even though its not comming this round of patches, I'm fairly confident its quite close (early dec as someone else said sounds about right) and most issues will be fixed by then. I really, really hope.

Pretty sure you have 2 or 3 tuesdays...the one coming now is 35 MB..so just a partial bit..which will probably only unpack and install once all parts are downloaded. Wasn't the last big patch in 2 or more installments, too?

why are you people still doing pvp except for fun ? farming reputation or even rank sure is useless by now. i hope the patch comes tonight so i can pvp tomorrow and start building up pvp points in the new system. i havend done PvP since the patch news came out. why would i ?

It's 99.9% sure to come out in December, most likely the first 2 weeks of December. They've done this "Background Patcher" crap before guys, you know that if you've played for over 4 months, you know that it takes a long time considering there's about 3 million or more North American's (And probably about 1 million NOT from North America) on the North American servers, so just let it take it's time =D, if you're so desperate, just watch TV and walk 1/2 a step every 10 minutes, or get someone else (Maybe a little brother?) to do it for you, or even ask them to play. (Of course on a new server with a new character =P).
Oh also, why's farming rep. useless? They're taking away all the Rep gear? If so, that's pretty BS right there. I want my 53 Hunter to have at LEAST the ring...

yep, I made rank 9 today, and am 76% to 10. I'll get 10 next Tuesday and will them farm for awhile to build my cash reserves back up.

Because as stated in the patch notes I read, you will still be able to display your highest rank earned in BG's . . .so many of us lowbies are trying to get Knight . .etc. :grin: :thumbsup:

The new honor system works like this.
NO RANKS
NO REP.
You can now Buy all the PvP rewards such as the armor set and GM weapons. You can also buy all the BG rewards. You DON'T need to to get a certain rank or rep to buy them. You CAN'T buy the items for cash.
To buy these items you use the BG tokens. As there is no rep anymore you can't hand in the tokens, but you can use them to buy items. For example to buy a PvP epic mount you need 30 tokens from each BG (a total of 90 tokens).
Thats not all. Some items require a combination of BG tokens and NEW HONOUR. This is different from old honour. you get roughly 10% as much new honour as old. So a kill that used to get you 200 points not gets you 20.
The difference is these points are like cash. once you earn them you keep them, until you spend them. So to buy some items you use a combination of BG tokens AND New Honour.
For example to buy a GM weapon might cost you 60 AV tokens and 12,000 New Honour points.
all AV rep rewards are bought with a combination of AV tokens AND honour. All AB items with AB tokens and new honour etc.
PvP items such as the weapons and armor use a combination of different BG tokens and new honour points.

Am I the only one who misses the marathon AV battles? Waiting in a queue for an hour and a half for just a 20 minute battle seems kind of silly.

you have to wait an hour and a half for av? on my server (kalecgos) AV queue is < 1 min ALWAYS, I farmed out max exhaulted with AV in 3 days because I thought the patch might be last week =P bought the ring and mount tho just in case, now Im grinding out a couple last ranks so I can focus on warlords xbow or something when the patch does come out... rather than some blue rank armor.

The AV queue on Khadgar is less than 10 seconds. I don't actually have time to move away from the BG guy.

How long did the patch take you guys? It took me around 11 hours...my connection was sometimes as slow as 4kb. Is this normal, or is it because so many people are downloading and there are not enough seeders?
I cancelled it at 20 MB and I am hoping for a mirror in the next days...

It's purposely trickled out slowly so as not to drag down your machine/hog all your bandwidth. If you want to wait there will most likely be several mirrors available where you can download the whole patch in one shot, but that won't happen until all incremental patches have been released and it's ready to go live.

problem is that while it dont suck up all your down bandwidth, it does suck up all your up-bandwidth.
Quick question for you folks...
I have now dloaded the 2.01 patch (from a mirror) 1.12 -> 2.01 enGB.
I have a zip file with:
wow-partial-1.MPQ - 36.6meg
wow-partial-2.MPQ - 632.3meg
Which WoW folder should these files be extracted to so that the Blizz Dloader "sees" them (and stops trying to dload), and where they will be picked up when the patch is released?

They are usually in your WoW directory, my downloader (only at 550 mb after 2 days...blech) made a directory with the name of the patch in the WoW directory.
Of course you can disable the downloader for some days....

One thing I did that got both files within about 45 minutes wqs I used a Bittorent program to download the files - and not Blizzards Downloader.
What you need to do is install a BitTorrent program; like uTorrent or BitTorrent; and the go into the install directory of World of Warcraft, then into the folder named "Cache". Inside there should be a file named "BackgroundDownload.torrent" (or it may only show as "BackgroundDownload").
Now; you do need to run the downloader once at least to make sure it downloads this file.
But, once there; and you have the BitTorrent progam installed, you should be able to double-click it and it ill open the BitTorrent program and start downloading. (it may ask where to save it first of course)
Like I said; got the files within about 45 minutes. Where as before whne I tried to run the Blizzard Background Downloader - it had ran for 3 days and still hand't download al the files (only got up to 64%).
Bah..dl finished in that folder are 2 files with 0 MB.
No idea where the game saved my bloody file :( Have to search
Jackpot...game saved it to /c: /documents and whatever/username
Better put your files there (the game dl-ed indeed 2 files)

From the official forums, 2.0 comes Dec. 5. You can get your title up till that week but you can't buy the rewards for some reason.

Guys I downloaded the two files. One is 36 mb and the other is something around 630. They are mpq files. What should I do? I copy pasted them to the patch folder. WoW seems to work fine but the patch downloader is still trying to download it. Also if I am able to install it will the talent point changes occur?

leave it all alone. dont try to fix it yourself. it will fix itself. wait till dec 5th when the patch actually comes out before touching any of that.
