View Full Version : All about Rogue -> Pros & Cons?
I have decided to make rogue (im lvl 23 atm) for the main reason because rogue can vanish.
Do any other class's get any thing similar to vanish? Equal? Can any item, potion, spell, or anything other than rogue vanish?
Also is there anything else I should know about rogue?
Any major enemies that can beat me? Like Paladins maybe? (I know anything can beat anything, but i am talking "major" enemies.... any MAIN weakness's?)
Right now, I can take on 2-3 enemies my own level, or elites that are my level. I cant take on more than 2 elites though. I can take on 2x Level 20 elites with my 23, by stunning the first one for 25 seconds.
Can I handle big groups when I get higher levels? Or will I always be limited to about 3 enemies at a time?
I have seen priest in action at level 23 with me... and seems to me liek at high levels a priest could take out large groups easy by AoE spells + Heal then AoE some more... + Sorb.

I say level your 23 to 60, or you'll get case of altitis... Which you make ever class and slows your leveling of your main...
but if you do anyways...
Vanish isn't an all escaping tool, if you have 1 of the 1,000 dots on you, you will be knocked out of vanish...
Vanish doesnt come til 22 i think...
Priest don't really have any AoE's other then Holy Nova and Pshyic Scream...
Higher level shadow priest are pretty good, Holy priest are awesome in any situation... IF you learn that you, by yourself won't win a BG and assisting DPS usually gets you farther then going around ambushing random people...
My suggestion of the 2 is priest, Since most servers already have a million rogues, and priests are ALWAYS needed from Wailing Caverns to Naxx...

Vanish is not a 'get out of battle free' card.
You need to remember that as a rogue you can't tank, you can't heal, and you can't attack from a safe distance. You will die and die often. Your best tool is the stun and poison crap, so that while you vanish or run or sprint or otherwise evade combat, your target is still slowed or bleeding.

There is an Invisibility Potion, but you can't use it in combat. Of course, for PVP purposes, all itwould require is you not hitting, nor getting hit for 5 or 10 seconds before you could "vanish."
Rogues are excellent for 1v1 fights. Moving up to 1v2 or 1v3 fights usually require either:
Sap
Blade fury
Evasion
and generally some combo of them. Still, your primary goal will most likely to focus on one target.
You should have vanish already, it is obtainable at lvl 22. But, it takes a reagant, cheap as it may be, you need to make sure you have them on you all the time. Otherwise, no vanish for you.
A hunter can easily take down a rogue, IF you dont keep them slowed, and/or in stunlock you could kill them. Mages are another class that has a RELATIVELY easy time with rogues. Shamans can kite rogues well, etc. Of course, a majority of this comes down to how well can you stunlock, how ell do you know when you need to back off and come back, etc.
