Hi - I'm looking at gear and stuff on thottbot and got interested in Armour sets and just general good gears - mostly Armour for my Warlock toon. I don't think I'll be doing Raids because I don't have that much time, (other than at weekends) . . . and besides I tend to get fed up with guilds; they just seem to exist for the sole benefit of the few who created them. The last guild I was in demanded a lot, Literally everything I did was for the guild for the promise of being allowed to attend a raid, I felt like a chinese gold farmer, (To the point where I stopped enjoying WoW, [I quit for a year]), and actually I didn't really get anything out of them, (One Raid they didn't even give me enough cash to repair my armour!!).

So I don't really want to touch a guild again - which probably means I won't get to raid. Ohh well. . . .

BUT. You can get a really good set through PvP - the Superior set looks really nice and looks like it would be worth the effort to get!

However - to get to Lieutenant Commander - I'm gonna need to be in the top 56 - I.E. 40K+ Rating on my server in order to get the stuff.

Do I need to sign up with a "Power Leveling" service to obtain this? Or can you actually do it - I mean how many people get up that high? Basically - Can you just blitz it for a week and do it? Would I need to take a week off of work and play battle grounds 24/7?

I'm actually wanting to do this - I will take great interest in any tips or advice - I'm typically a pretty casual player - and unfortunatly I'm not that competative - I like fishing and fighting monsters - but also I do sometimes join in in fights. I got to like STV - even though it frustrated me to start with - it got fun. But I was always in greens at best - I really want some decent gears.

Plz help - I'd really love some decent stuff - Even if you have better ideas as to how I might be able to work towards getting better equipment - other than trying to PvP up to high levels!!!

Thanks a lot
Cheers

The honor system changes soon so that you earn honor and tokens to buy pvp gear...Those honor points and tokens do not degrade...So, pvp is a viable way to get decent gear.

Awesome - hmm - I wonder what sort of time commitment in PvP you'll need to put in to get the Rank 10 gears? I'm guessing it'll probably be like months?

Tell me how many hours you play a week, and I'll estimate it for you...

I'll pretty much plough Saturday in - 12 hours
Sunday - Say 10
Friday is pretty much always sommat else
The other Week nights I'm good for 3.5

Tot 32.5 Hours a week - Thats probably minimum - cause I'll sometimes do Friday too!

Cheers a lot!

when i really pushed for my pvp rankings, i played about 3/4ths that much and turned in well over 100k honor a week.

with each piece of epic gear (rank 12-14) costing something like 20k honor and 20 bg tokens each from something I saw somewhere.... uhhh, should be like a couple weeks if you push really hard before you are fully epicced out. (unless they nerf honor gains significantly)

That's really good news - I can't wait - It'll certainly take the presure off if you can just acrue points and then spend them later without them diminishing - but I suppose it'll mean that everyone gets the gear over time and any benefit is sort of voided.

Hmm - Are most lvl 60s walking around decked out in that quality of gear - or will I still be out geared do you rekon?

Cheers

I give it a month or less, at that rate...

They are 'nerfing' them...a bit.

You'll get 10-12 honor per kill...or thereabouts...

you are still talking about the lt. comm. blue gear. I was talking about the Grand Marshall purple Epic gear...

you dont really get much better than that dps gear wise.

Those are solo kill honor points.

In a raid, you get 1-5 honor points per kill.

In AV, you are lucky if you get 20 kills, AV is pve battleground not pvp.

then you are new to pvp...

just wait till this system hits, i would not be at all surprised if AV turns back into the 4 hour slaughterfests.

Huh? 20 kills?

I'm brand new to PvP - started last night. Played for 2 hours last night, and 2 and a half today and I've already got ~450 kills.

I've also just got to laugh at how 37 hours a week is considered "casual". Especially when 40 hours a week in the work place is considered full time.

With 32.5 h a week you will have the PVP gear up in no time.

i am a casual player myself, i play less than that in a week ( except in holidays) and i was up to bloodguard at lvl 54. So with the new honor system it would take about 3-4 weeks PVP and you have your PVP set ( even the epic one)

i used to run with my servers marhsal/pvp group for ~30hours per week at 400k cp. With the new system 30 or more hours will get you 1-2 epics per week depending on the success of your pre-made. I believe that in 2.0 there will be many more groups formed interested in pvping.

Well - This thread has really cheered me up! At last it looks like there will be a method, albeit time consuming, but non the less a method for ppl like me to get good stuff!

Most AV in my battle groups takes less than 30 minutes to win or lose. Are you talking about 1 AV game you get 450 kills or 2 hours + 2.5 hours you get 450 kills? If you get 450 kills in AV, how many of those are repeated kills that worth no honors at all?

You get far more honor bonuses for winning in 15 minute WSG/AB games for 4 hours than spending 4 hours in 1 AV.

Certainly no question about that...The key is "winning"...

Horde (my faction) wins most AB and WSG on my server....(woot!!)

We win WSG often in 8 min....Druids with Legionnaire gear run quite fast.

Alliance premade win as much as a horde pug, it's much easier for hordes to win in AB/WSG than alliance. Also the less wait time for ANY BG on horde side will also accelerate the horde players to achieve pvp items faster.

But you have to win, which implies a premade group. For a (solo) casual, it will be "better" to enter in the slaughfests.

Horde pugs win 8 out of 10 wsg and ab in my battle groups.

that was one of my other questions, if you still got lots more honor for winning and caps, etc.

so, AB here i come it looks like. proper balance of kills and games imo, but we shall see. :)

oh, and I miss the old AV games still :( they were fun... maybe not the most honor, but for just the fun of a huge slaughterfest pvp game, it was great!

Horde pugs win much of the time...A premade wins even more than a PUG....
