Hello, I'm very new to WoW and have some newbie questions I'd like to have answered if possible. I have a level 6 Lock, and have chosen mining/blacksmithing for professions. Here are my questions:
1. While mining and completing quests it seems like my Lock is very easily killed. I've finally learned to keep my Imp with me at all times to help me with fighting and this has helped a bit. Should I spend my money on sword training (still have dagger) or how can I become more powerful in combat? I have "blood pact" for my Imp, and I have level 2 shadow ray and some other fire spell too. Any ideas?
2. Can I change the clothes my character is wearing? I'm sick of the red robe, would like something that looks better.
3. During mining I have gathered a lot of "raw stones". What am I supposed to do with these? Sell them?
4. How do I unjoin a guild?
5. I just had a blacksmith train me for "Copper Vest". Can my guy even wear this, or should I make them and sell them?
6. Where do I buy some extra sacks to carry stuff? Will they carry ore too?
I know these are pure Noob questions, but there is so much info out there I was hoping someone could address these immediate questions for me. I'm tired of constantly running to my corpse, and want to make sure I'm on the right path. :)

When you kill mobs, there is a chance that they drop better gear. Better in looks or better in stats. Also there are quests where you can choose gear as a reward.
3. During mining I have gathered a lot of "raw stones". What am I supposed to do with these? Sell them?
With your blacksmithing profession you can turn them in various kinds of grinding stones, which in turn are materials for other blacksmithing plans.
4. How do I unjoin a guild?
By typing "/gquit" in your chatline
5. I just had a blacksmith train me for "Copper Vest". Can my guy even wear this, or should I make them and sell them?
As a warlock, you're restricted to cloth-gear. Weapons are the only selfmade things you're able to use
6. Where do I buy some extra sacks to carry stuff? Will they carry ore too?
If you're lucky, they'll drop from mobs you kill. :) Other options are: vendors that sell bags (expensive) or collect/buy linen or other cloth and ask a tailorer if he/she wants to make bags for you.
I know these are pure Noob questions, but there is so much info out there I was hoping someone could address these immediate questions for me. I'm tired of constantly running to my corpse, and want to make sure I'm on the right path. :)

What level mobs are you killing or getting killed by?

What level mobs are you killing or getting killed by?
Like level 7 Klebolds (when mining) & Mangy Wolves sometimes.
Even with my Imp hurling fireballs I usually barely make it out alive. Should I get a better weapon than the dagger, or how can I learn more powerful spells?

It will come in time as you level up. Your Imp is weak and does not do alot of damage yet. How are you fighting? Do you simply run to the mine/source and try to pick it or fight your way to it? Try to complete the quests in your area to level faster, at least to lvl 10.
As far as your weapon is concerned, you really should not be fighting up close unless you run out of mana and its your last resort. However the Imp does not hold aggro. Try this:
Send your Imp in to attack from a distance, then you run away from your Imp to the other side of the attacker, go back as far as you can so you that you are in range to cast your spell. You should be able to take the attacker down cause your Imp is dealing the damage and you are also but from a distance.
Take them down one at a time, if you get 2-3 on you just run away. Don't worry I died plenty of times going 1-10 but when I got voidwalker at lvl 10 life got easier cause for one he holds the aggro and you just sit back and nuke them.
Come to the Warlock section, lots of good info in there too.

Tak -
This is great info! Thank you! I didn’t even know that I could send my Imp to attack without me. I will try this tonite! I have just been running right up to what I'm fighting, I guess this was a big mistake. Do I just left click to select my target then click on 'attack' in the pet bar?
Thanks!

np...yeah just left click on your target and hit the attack button for your pet. He will then run up within his fire bolt range and blast away till target dies, you call him back by hitting the follow button or your imp dies. This is how it works with your pets..send them in and you nuke from a distance. Also learn the aggressive/defensive/passive buttons for your pet.

My horde character didnt get his first bag til 12 I just recently got a new green sack off of a humanoid in a cave my guy is lvl 22 now and I got it off a lvl 8 guy, But for some reason the allies are more lucky I am lvl 12 with my new guy and I already have all the bags I can hold I got 3 from lvl 1-4 and now I just recently got the last one whether it takes a long time or not you'll find them (you can get them off mobs humanoids or venders for 5 silver)

For those of you having troubles finding bags at low levels, as soon as you can make it to a capitol city check the auction house, many of us get garbage 6-10 slot bags at higher levels and don't mind parting with them cheap. I will say as soon as you can get 14-16 slot bags do so, more room is ideal. at level 60 (and just hit it first toon) I have about 1.5 bags full of gear/enching rods/trinkets not to mention my quiver. Room is needed expecialy while grinding.

Zobius, grab a rather useful UI mod called Gatherer. It's available from here and keeps track of where you found what minerals. That will help with mining as well.

you may want to consider dropping blacksmithing and maybe pickup tailoring or skinning. Blacksmithing requires lots of money, cash and ore to be leveled up... and the majority of the stuff you wont be able to use. tailoring can supply u with bags and gear... and u get the basic cloth materials from normal questing. skinning is another good choice as you will have 2 gathering professions which can provide u with lots of cash... you would then sell the ore and leather u skin at the auction hall.. and be able to buy gear from there... thats what i did on my first toon and by time i hit lvl 40.. i had great gear and over 100G.. good luck

I agree on the blacksmithing part. Tailoring is very easy to skill up as you go and even has some useful items you can make along the way.
Copper bars usually sell pretty well. Just use the browse function at the auction house to get a rough idea for what you can expect people to buy them for.
About the killing you will find that it becomes a lot easier once you get the quest for a voidwalker done at level 10. The voidwalker can taunt mobs (this is on autocast like the imps firebolts) which forces the monster to attack it unless you do too much damage at the same time. Takes some getting used to, but you'll get it. Just make sure it gets the initial hit. Even letting it build some threat by waiting some more seconds to attack can be useful. You compete with the voidwalker for the attention from the monster in a way.
Remember to pick up first aid as well and train it at regualar intervals.

Yes a good UI would definitely be very helpful. I also find that reading other people's guides on how they approach things is helpful as well. I found a ton of good guides on just about every topic at the Site name.
Link Nuked, due to that page containing links to gold selling sites and powerlevelling services. Please take the time to read our forum rules. Because we do not condone such actions here. Thank you for your cooperation. Signed, Valas.
Also, as far as professions, I find Engineering to be a waste of gold and Blacksmithing to be right on it's heals. I think the best professions for generating gold are Tailoring, Leatherworking, Alchemy, and Enchanting if you do it right.
