Hello Everybody,
I played wow for a few months, and then quit. I recently reactivated my account and gave blizzard authorization to withdraw 1 month (14.95) from my credit card balance. I looked at credit transcript and it looked like this:
To: Date Amount
I only got 1 month worth of gametime. Blizzard refuses to refund this saying that they do not offer refunds...what should I do? Im about to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, maybe if they think I am serious enough to sue them they will give in.

Dispute the second charge with your credit card company. Once you do that Blizzard has to prove the reason for both charges. I see this all the time working at a hotel. Let your credit card company do all the work, its what you pay them (with your finance charges) to do.

How far have you escalated this with Blizzard Billing support? The way you phrased your post seems to indicate that the representative might have thought that you want a refund of a payment you authorized. You should be specific that the charge was erronous. If they won't budge ask to speak to a supervisor. You might also use phrasing like 'overbilling' or 'unauthorized billing'. You might also hit that if the issue is not resolved you might have to file a 'fraudulent charge' complaint with your credit card company. I always find that throwing in some legal terminology that asserts that the mistake came from the company and could cause them legal liability will escalete your call up the chain. :)

the $1 is usually an authorization - the first $14.95 may also be an authoutization not a charge. Check if one of them has a * in front or it or if it doesn't carry your ballance up to the next line.
If they are both charges then you would have to call your credit card company and tell them it was double billed.

Indeed, seems like you got double billed. Blizzard doesn't offer refunds for authorized payments, so that's probably what they thought you were addressing. Looks like an honest mistake, so I wouldn't immediately take this higher. Contacting your credit card company is probably the best way to handle this. Then they are most likely obligated to refund you, since it's obviously an erroneous billing from their side.

Some people help me.
 I bought the game last year on April for 3 monthes. During that first 3 monthes, my account was suspended once, and after that they sent me a new password. But I could not log on again. I thought the account was closed completely. I never try to use it again after May. Last month I accidentally found they are still charging me for another 3 times. I already paid off the credit card twice. Can I require refund? Can I dispute the last charge at least. What would be the result if I dispute the last charge for my credit? I just feel bad about them. They never answer the phone. They email me no refund. I don't know what to do.
Thank you very much.

why would you wait so long to have these charges taken off? as far as i can tell, bliz was fully in their rights to charge you. its you who assumed that they would stop billing you, its you who assumed that since you couldnt log on, your account was closed. it also seems very fishy that you would pay the charges even when you dont play, and not bring this matter up beforehand, but waited almost a year to ask in these forums.
i think this would be a good lesson learned. be on top of your finances. its your money. look after it.
and talk about old thread!!

The BBB is useless. They won't do anything for you.
Call your Credit Card company and tell them to block the duplicate charge.
BTW - are you sure that's not a TEMPORARY charge? Some temporary charges are billed to CC's just as placeholders until the money clears - and then it's removed automatically prior to your billing period ending.

Thank you. I just want some advice. I hate this unequal thing. I think at least they could mail the paper bill to me not just take money from my card. I will talk to my credit card company to see what could I do.

My husband plays, well used to play WoW. He keeps saying he's going to start up again so we haven't cancelled his account yet, but it's been 7 months of no game play so I'm cancelling (and yes, he knows). Maybe I'm an idiot but I can't find a website or a phone number to call and cancel. I tried the Blizzard Entertainment website but I didn't really find anything helpful. Our bank statement says "CHECKCARD 0720 BLIZZARD ENT*WOW SUB BLIZZARD.COM CA". I need to find out where to cancel his account. Any help on that?
Thanks
And I know this thread started a looong time ago...I just need some help.
If you have your husband's account information, just log in to the account information page through the main WoW site at www.worldofwarcraft.com. You should be able to turn off auto-payment there and remove your credit card.
If you don't have his account information just call your credit card company and stop payment on the monthly payments to Blizzard.
