View Full Version : Enchanting costs

I am a level 29 druid at the moment. Yesterday someone was offering me "free enchants" I had only to pay the base material costs he said.
So he offers me a +1 stamina on bracers or something and a +2 stamina on boots and a +2 damage on 2h weapon (which is almost of zero use to a druid) for 10 gold! Since I am not KCMA i only have ~18 gold at the moment so I thought that 10 gold was a bit much for enchants I wont be using long.
Especially since this should be base material costs only. I offered him a blue wand to disenchant + some cash for a +1 to all stats on vest he also mentioned but that got us no deal.
So what is a reasonable amount of money for the base material costs of (low level) enchants? If it is really this expensive then I only see twinks buying enchants at low level.

Unless your market is BG twinks (in which case every little edge helps and cost is almost irrelavant), enchanters have to bite the bullet and source these mats themselves - or possibly find some less expensive enchants to skill up on. The recipes that use dusts are usually cheaper than the ones that use shards, obviously.
I don't think any non-twink would pay 10g for trivial enchants like these. The AH might value the mats this high (partially thanks to twinks), but the market value of the resulting enchants would imho be significantly less. Bottom line: the market value of an item or a service is always whatever price the market is willing to pay.

Most people trying to level enchants will do so with their mats basically for free until they reach the higher levels. The goal is just to get their skill up and the skill point for doing an enchant is payment enough.
Enchanting costs money to level up that's all there is to it. I'm sure you can find another enchanter who will do it for free. Just pay attention to the spam in the trade channel.

10G for those enchants is totally bogus IMHO. When I sell enchants I work on the premise that twice the mat cost is fair given what it cost me to level enchanting to be able to do the chant.

Thank for the reply. I also had the impression it was a bit steep, especially since it was supposed to be 'material cost only'. So What would be twice the mat costs for these enchants?

+1 stamina on bracers or something and a
Approximately 20-25 silver cost.
+2 stamina on boots and a
Probably +3 and approximately 50-60 silver cost.
+2 damage on 2h weapon
Approximately 50-60 silver cost.
In other words, he was trying to scam you.

Yeah I got that impression but hey since I didn't know anything about enchanting I thought well lets ask here and give him only the benefit of the doubt and not my gold

i thaught druids in cat / bear form have damage independent of the weapon damage ? so the enchant would be completely worthless. go for something whit stats, like agility which increases crit and dodge chance or strengh which increases atack power.
