Spirit rez? The graveyard is usually somewhere safe...

The ghost where you awaken from death.. talk to it, and ask for a rez there, instead of running back to your corpse

Yeah thats the safest way as I found out the other night - in fact my post on it should be a little way down.
to provide a little more detail:
Talk to the spirit that hovers over you at the graveyard/shrine. It will offer to rez you where your Hearthstone is set, but you will take a damage hit on your armour, weapons, and any contents of your inventory.
EDIT: If it doesnt reply (same as when I tried the first time), it could be that youre spirit is not close enough to it. Just walk a bit closer and retry.

Hope it worked. I know the frantic state I was in when it happened to me. Thinking "OMG Im going to have to delete my character!!!".
When I was told what to do I felt like a bit of a dork, but then theres a lot of stuff to know and only playing a few days doesnt help.

It won't actually send you to your hearthstone area, it just resurects you. After you res you can hearthstone.
Alternately you can scout out a safish place near your body, usually up on a hill or in the middle of a lake you won't get aggro.... Oracle glade is Elf country I think, is that over by the harpies? If this is the place I am thinking of you can just keep ressing closer and closer to the road. You don't have to be standing at your body - just nearish. I would probably run only as close as I absolutely had to in order to get the pop up box, turn back to face the direction of the road - hit accept and start running before the mist even clears. 2 or 3 times doing that should see you back to the road which is at least relatively safe. If you are getting beat on just keep running, don't stop and try to fight, your main goal is distance.
My first elf traveled the length of a country doing this because I had super bad luck (and had no clue how to guage the aggro radius of monsters) while trying to get to the human lands - Most people die 2 or 3 times on that run .... I died 14. Your equipment will be busted all to pieces but repairs are cheap at lvl 6
Don't give up and don't get discouraged. Look at it like a mini game within a game ... how far can I get before that harpy toasts me this time?
Good Luck!

Reminds me of the time I got lost down in the caverns in Thunder Ridge on my first night of playing. Spent ages and ages trying to find my way out and kept dying to the lizards.
Then I remembered my hearthstone

Just an FYI for when you are doing this...if you are really concerned about having to repair your gear and you don't plan on stopping to fight anyway....take your gear off and run naked. That way it doesn't take damage when you die. This doesn't work if you accept a spirit res (which will damage everything in your bags) but it does save on repairs if you're doing a suicide run as Cyradis described.
And to Theder: Next time, you might also try asking in general chat if there is anyone nearby of a slightly higher level who could spare a minute to aid you. Every server has its share of jerks, but there is usually a larger share of benevolant players who are always willing to help out new players, especially if they ask in a polite manner (with whole words and punctuation and everything.)

Could also just put stuff in your bank... Then spirit rez away. Usually, it's low levels doing the suicide runs to get to another capital city so full repairs aren't expensive. But then again, a couple or silver is a fortune to an untwinked low level player.

He may not have a hearthstone ...dont you have to talk to an inn keeper to get one ?

No, you have it from the start and if you use it before you get a "new home" it will take you to the spawn location. I use it when lvling a char to 6 or so - I run complete a quest and hearth back to turn it in.

Took you an entire day to get to level 6...Are you in the right game for you? Oh wait...you weren't fighting...you were strolling...
Getting to level 6 should take two hours or less.
spirit res and then immediately hearth...

Meh, I can completely relate. When I first played WoW (last April) I was completely lost. I eventually just gave up and didn't player again for a week but after that first terror of having no clue you get hooked. Many 60's later I can level up a toon to lvl 30 no problem within two days.

I remember when i first got this game... I was getting very frustrated. I would read through the quests and think 'how the hell am i supposed to know where 'such and such a place' is when my map is all covered up?! this is just stupid, impossible!!'. Seems silly now. The low level areas are very very easy, but when you are new.. not quite so easy. I still stand by the beleif that the gnome/dwarf start area is a pain to find your way around.

Right click on the spirit healer. See if that works.
At level 6 though, repairs are cheap enough that they can be easily gotten by farming a few beasties (never, never, never understimate Vendor Trash) and humanoids and still have money to spare. Also, you don't start getting rez sickness till level 10 I think.
Also, again, you do not have to be on your corpse to rez. You can see monsters in about a 45 yard radius around your corpse, and you can rez in an area 30 yards from your corpse, so you can easily scout out a good place to rez. Again though, don't hesitate to use the spirt healer. At low levels it's nothing.
At high levels however, you want to get good at corpse running as one lone death can start to equal several gold in repairs.
Edit: And if you corpse run (term coined in running back to your body when you die), try and rez as close to the road as possible. In lowbie areas especially, staying on the road is the best way to avoid getting killed.
