I posted this on a previous thread, but didn't want to ninja it, so here's my situation.
I run 256 mb of ram on a 4 year old ebay desktop. (exact specs inc later) I've played on it for the past 2 years in WoW, but recently Naxxramas encounters, mostly Thaddius, have been making the game near-unplayable.
I know I have available memory slots. and this isn't alot of information, but what would the advice be of the community. To puchase a cheap Dell, or upgrade to 1 GB of ram

Depends on the specs of the computer. A computer isn't like a car; "4 year old ebay desktop" means jack all.
But, keep in mind that the minimum requirement for WoW is 512MB. The fact that you can even run the game reasonably well with 256MB astounds me.

yeah I understand the lack of information. I'm in an impulsive mood at work and don't have my system spec's on me. (also 4 years on a car is equally un-helpful). Just hovering over the "check out" button at Dell's site for a 600$ machine with everything I'd need and more.
256mb ram, Athlon XP 2000+ rings a bell, GEForce MX100
Are what I can remember from long-term memory.

I am equally amazed that you can even run WoW on that thing, much less raid.
I imagine your settings must be very low. Upgrading might bring a whole new light to the game.

I purchased that Dell. I figure I was long overdue, and considering I play WoW so much I'm sure it will make it far more enjoyable.
I run every possible Video setting at the minimum.
Recently I've had to run with Sound off, 0 mod/uis, some added macros which remove combat log information, and only Ventrilo and WoW running on my computer after a fresh restart.
Even with those I have become renowned in my guild for disconnecting 10-15 times a night, often when it is unfavorable.
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs
256MB ATI Radeon X1300 Pro
Integrated Sound BlasterŽAudigy
Should all make my gaming an entirely different animal. woot

My personal feeling would be to buy the $600 system too, rather than simply upgrading the RAM. However - what specs does it have?
Edit:
Well doh, that's what happens when you have a tabbed window open and are clicking through all the posts you want to reply to. Gratz on the new system, I think you'll enjoy WoW a WHOLE lot more now.

Nice! Happy that you decided to go with a new system. :) That should be very useful for school/work as well, sounds like a good deal for $600!
