Maybe this is me just not knowing how to use the LFG tool properly but it seems that I always get put into random groups with too many of one class and not enough of a needed class. Is there a way for a party leader to "choose" who they want?

Thank you

Disable all auto-join options.

Well, it's been in for a while now and I'm only really starting to use it now (leveling up a new priest).

So far, all I can say is that it's RUBBISH!

How often are (sorry, WERE) you logged in as another character and you see a message in the LFG channel and thing, yeah, i've got an Alt that need to go there? Or You've got nothing better to do, so a quick run through SM would be a bit of fun with an Alt roughly at the right level?

Never happens now. You have to wait. And wait. And wait. And wait. Untel you finally get a group together... Then not everyone is ready. So you wait some more. And then someone has to go. So you're back looking for more, but you've already summoned (have to say, the meeting stones for summoning are GOOD!) the rest of the party who are now annoyed because they were busy with other things before the summon...

Ah heck, i've turned this into a rant.

Does anyone actually have any luck with the LFG system?

I do, got a lot of quests done in Scholo and Strat on my rogue, normally I would never find a group but now I do :p

I have managed to get a lot of good groups with the new LFG system.

I imagine it varies from server to server. The more people use it, the more useful it becomes and so the more people are willing to use it again. It's popularity will either snowball or go into freefall.

Haven't had much luck with the LFG interface myself, whenever I use it, one of a few things will happen:

The group will end up being almost full of guildies
I'll have to wait 2-3 hours for a group to assemble itself
Have to resort to using general chat (which actually speeds things up)

Most of my groups as of late have been from random whispers to myself or from asking guildmates to come or vice versa. I kinda wish Blizz had kept the Lookingforgroup channel in the game as it sort of advertises in a way. People only use the LFG interface whenever they feel like doing an instance and it seems not enough want to. Most seem to just join on a whim after seeing it in chat.

The above is just for instances, currently every other category has been absolutely useless to me. Surely things will pick up with TBC though, with more wanting to do the new instances and other things.

the problem is now most people arn't interested in running scholo or strat or instance X they pvp for gear and wait for BC. It will probably pick up in BC.

Like I have said before about this, the search funtion itself seems to be ok and find decent people(well it did toss in a 56 pally for a baron run), but the probelm is that you can no more just hang around and watch the lfg channel if anything hits your eye. In other words, I hate it when you have to know what you are looking for before you start to.

I read somewhere they are going to change it so you can look on other characters. However how they are gonna do this, no idea.

Didn't say a word about other characters though :P

I think the concept of the LFG tool is great, but they shouldn't always have to do things their own bloody way. What's wrong with stealing some ideas from other games every now and again? Just because it's been done before doesn't mean it's wrong!

And at least they could have left the bloody lfg channel in place as an addition.

The single big, easy, chance that would make it a whole lot more useful would be allowing you to LFG for any instance/zone, rather than just ones of your level.

Also, an "all" option in LFM would be nice, so you could browse all the groups that were trying to go places.

Trouble with that is that you're LFG with your twink rogue (lvl 19) for all those level 50+ instances. How will this tool know which of your level 50-60 toons you would like to join a group with? All possible combinations? May be a loong list.
More lag, anyone?

It doesn't need to know. It just needs to let you see stuff out of your lvl range in LFM.

Got myself into a UBRS run last night to get my attunes through the LFG system. Just did some BGing till I got the call. Useful, I think.

I'm one of the few people on my server that uses it, and the others that do I actually group with quite a bit. Once you get into the 40 levels you are usually in a guild and have a pretty big "friends" list so it's not always necessary to use the tool to find a group. I don't have any experience with it in the teens and 20's though because back then we had the LFG channel.

Also, when I do use it and get paired up with random players, 80% of the time it's a bad experience or we have little to no success.

If you read post #15 which was the one I was answering, the poster wanted LFG, not LFM. That may very well have been a typo. :-)

I find i am missing the inate chatter on the LFG channel, i think the game has lost some of its community feel, its human element. Yes we got some rubbish on there at times, even some gold farming adverts, but you could ignore it if you wanted. Now i find my post box full of rubbish instead.:undecided:

We have returned to the bad old days of meeting in IF and UD and spamming the general channel there.

Don't get me wrong i think it could be a useful additional tool, but bring back the LFG please.
