So, I've now leveled a night elf to 60 on another server, and tried my hand at all other classes. I've decided that I need to give horde a try, and see what life is like on the other side of things.
Here is my question then for all your horde types. What class do you play? What race? And why do you like playing that class/race combination.
I've got a good background in all classes except warrior and shaman (lvl 26 and 18 respectively). I'm not really looking for people to tell my what class I should play, but rather to see what it is that you like about the class YOU play.
Alliance, feel free to comment as well.

I love the versatility of the warlock and the mood/ambience that the UD race displays. Also their racial skills are very appealing.
I have a Troll mage that is a cool and freaky character, but all in all, mages feel very one-dimensional compared to a warlock or priest.
Trying my hand at an Orc warrior atm - the only race that doesn't click are Tauren. Can't even say why.....but it proves how good it is NOT to ask ppl what race/class to play.

My main Horde character is a shaman.
The shaman was my first Horde character, and I normally play casters and dislike melee. I chose the shaman because I felt like breaking out of the pure-caster mold, but still couldn't muster the interest to try a warrior or a rogue. I liked the fact that the shaman class looked versatile. It was that or the druid for me, but I got the impression that while the druid was pretty good at filling any of its roles, it was only good at doing one of them at a time, whereas the shaman seemed to sacrifice a bit of efficiency at any particular role for the ability to take on more than one at a time. I liked the idea of being a bit of a jack-of-all-trades.
Well, that opinion didn't quite survive actually playing one, and they are a little more restricted than I initially thought (the Restoration tree is also, in my opinion, much more terrible than it looked at first glance), but I still love mine. As long as you're working with people who know the shaman's strengths and weaknesses, they're a very solid class in both PvE and PvP. I lean more toward the latter, though.
I picked a tauren, but not for game mechanics. As it was my first Horde character, I just liked the look and feel of their starting area.

Thanks so far, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Any others with other classes they love to play?

Warsong EU, lvl 60 Orc MS Warrior ODB... one of the first servers, one of the first 60's bad ass greens I tell ya!
Ragnaros EU lvl 60 Troll Fury Warrior Agol... second generation server, decided to give fury a go, troll racial max agility, mad boe epics, the super noob build ;P
Ahn'Quiraj EU lvl 60 Orc Fury Warrior Odbizzle... had all the errors of the past figured out! wanted to make it good, bought more boe epics, played dual wield fury and realized my gear sucked, switched to 2h fury, I'm now ont he lower end of 'respectable'
Ahn'Quiraj EU lvl 60 Orc Shaman Russeljones... yet another tribute to the now deceased rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard... after three warriors wanted to give a go at casting, so made an elemental shaman with nature swiftness so I could heal myself and others if the going got tough. I'm very pleased with the result, he's a pvp machine and can heal quite well as well
Horde on the 3 servers I've played on has been quite good, the community is decent, I don't believe it differs so much accross the board, but thats my 2 cents
ciao

Undead Warrior - great animations, picked her with the intention of tanking Fearing Mobs (no fear ward on Horde side for now at least).
Troll Shaman - a lot of fun in the BGs, but quite frankly I found it a bore to level him up.
Have a couple of other toons, but nothing else that I'd say I play 'seriously' on horde side.

Welcome to the Horde! Hehe. We may be a ragtag bunch but I have yet to meet anyone that regretted the switch. ;)
As far classes and races. I have a Undead Priest, Troll Mage, Tauren Shaman and a Tauren Druid which I am lvling atm. Undead is the most popular for obvious reasons. They are cool looking and have really nice racials, especially if you go with a priest. Trolls are probably my favorite just because they have lots of character and great emotes. My only regret so far was that I did not make my shaman a female orc... but nothing I can do about it now.
I would suggest a troll or undead for caster classes and orcs and taruen if you are going with something with a more melee bent. Oh and if you make a warrior again, go with Female Tauren. I don't see many of them and they look awesome in all the warrior sets. Just the way I see it but take it as you will.

I recently did the exact same thing as the OP. I began playing right after the original release . . . long before DM, BWL, Naxx, hunter pet abilities, BG, etc. I had always played alliance. Worked up a hunter, rogue, and mage to 60 and a druid stuck around 30 and collecting dust.
I moved to horde a few months back and am loving my orc warlock . . .yes i said orc. Having played for so long, I knew the zones, grinding spots, and where things were, but I have taken this horde character slower then usual. It has been a lot of fun questing again because it is a whole different story.
On a side note, orc's racial blood fury now effects spells as well!! Quite a nice boost at times:wink:

So far I have rolled a NE warrior(58), UD warlock(43), and now a TN druid (53) and I have to say that I love the varied gamplay of a druid. The benefits of the class are many. having the ability to choose to cast, heal, or DPS is great, but what I find most challenging is being great at all of them. The difficulty of gearing and specing properly to be off tank, off heal, and help with CC is quite interesting to me. Grinding is also a lot less of a drag as a druid. I rarely have to stop for anything, just pause, pop a HoT, and jump back into the fray. The on drawback I have found so far is that PVP as a druid can be a bit limiting. I find that although I fit great into instance/raid groups, in a PVP situation, I lack enough strenght in one niche to be truly efffective. This may be my inexperince or a limitation of the class. With the 41 pt talents, there is a lot more possibility for rounded gameplay or serious focusing to become dominant in whichever station you wish to fill. Druids FTW!

I have a 60 NE druid, 60 NE shadowpriest, 33 Human Rogue and a couple other alliance toons not worth mentioning. Recently decided to try out horde, and have a Tau Warrior at 33, kinda collecting dust, and my new favorite, a 45 UD Warlock.
UD Warlocks are kinda generic, but the racials are great. I love being able to cannibalize after life tapping... absolutley 0 down time while grinding, unless I pull 3 or 4 mobs accidentally. Will of the Forsaken is awesome for PvP. Unending breath is kinda worthless for a UD warlock, but eh.
Druids are awesome... Probably my favorite class to play. My Druid was my first character, is the best geared, and I've gotten used to the playstyle - not putting up huge damage, but being able to outlast anyone. Leveling as a druid is a blast, cause you can play so many different roles, from Main Tanking to Main Healing, to dps'ing to nuke'ing. Plus we got buffed huge in this last patch :P

My main Horde character is a Tauren Warrior. I started him out with the intend to really learn how tanking works. My very very first (way back) Horde character was an Orc Warrior. I didn't know squat back then and I always felt so... without a purpose. He dropped off the playing and got deleted in my "moving Horde to another server"-move.
After reading up on Warriors a LOT I started one again (this time a Tauren Warrior for +5% hp and War Stomp) and I feel I now have a sense of direction. All aggro shall be mine and through this other shall be safe.
I don't care if it is not really that needed when still doing Wailing Caverns, but I just love it.
The experience gained from bear tanking helped as well...
