Would someone mind giving me an estimate on how long it would take to get the epics in battle grouds, in hours played? Because I am level 54 right now, and should hit level 60 in Jan. before the TBC, and was wondering if I should invest time in BG or just go for the quest rewards and loot from instances in TBC as I hear they are very good?

Thank you

You get anywhere between 500-1000 honor per hour.

Rank 14 epic set requires 100,000 honor and tokens. So minimum ~100 hours PvP.

If you are alliance, you win less and longer queue time.

Rank 14 2 hander takes 45,000 honor so another 45 hours.
Rank 14 1 hander takes 22,500 honor takes another 22 hours.

Right now the honors being calculated is a bit buggy. We should wait until we get an exact estimate on how much honors = spendable honors.

im about 99% sure that its gonna end up being 10% of what the old system was. for example, if you got 100 honor for doing something, now you get 10. its just a matter of how badly they can mess things up now that the patch is out, lol

anyways, i had it figured that an entire pvp set, rank 12/13 gear, 14 wep, and things such as bracers, neck piece, both rings/trinkets ect would take about 1.5 mil honor on the old system, so how ever long it takes you get get 1.5 mil honor is how long it will take you to be leeeeet (for like 2 weeks, bc by then TBC will be almost out, lol)

Given that the honors being calculated right now is correct. I played about 3 hours non stop BGs last night. Today it said that I earned 2000 spendable honors. So, the full Epic armor set is around 100,000 honors.

So roughly is you are playing casually of only 3 hours a day of straight BG, it will take you about 150 hours /played.

Given the rewards in even the first zone in TBC, I'm planning to augment my raid gear as I can with pvp pieces, especially pieces I hate the look of, to make leveling more efficient in TBC.

well, I do not think it will take anywhere near 50 days, but it might...

It will benefit EVERYONE to evaluate how close BC is to release when they are at the point when they can actually buy the gear they want...If you are only after weps, the gear will come a bit sooner...

well, if your hardcore and can actually play alot it wont take long, and if go w/ a guild or something you should be able to get over 3k honor in 3 hours, so over time that extra 1k+ per 3 hours would really really add up

Your Correct.
Old days 1 kill in ab/wsg was 100+/- honor,
now I think 1 kill = 9 ~honor :azn:

I'm sure events like capture a flag/bunker or gain 20 resources count aswell.

(~honor) = the honor that blizz will aprox give ya.
Honor is what you realy gained at the end of the day when blizz calculated it
and you can spend like money for pvp items.

yesterday i had 500+/- hk's in ab/wsg it was callculated x1.35 to around 6750honor. so for 1h spell blade is just 4 days work for me
so its not to bad now is it :azn:

If I were you (and I am not... but I am in a similar situation), I would keep grinding BG rep and keep on saving it. Get as much as possible. Then wait until BC pvp awards are out. I have not heard anything about them, but i would imagine that there will be new items that are more powerful than the current ones.

I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me that they would offer better gear for people who are lvl67, 68, 69 and 70 than the current PVP awards. If this is the case, it might make more sense to bank all those Honor points an be able to splurge on a couple of high-end pieces when they come out.

As I see it there really is not too much downside from taking this approach. The only downside is that you will be playing with your current gear until BC comes out... at which point you will either A)Raid/Quest for new gear and lvls or B) continue to PVP and hope they have newer gear coming out.

Just my .02 and plan.

You can already see the level 70 pvp rewards from the current BGs, just not the arena awards. Go look ;)

Theyre very nice, but given: Time before your 70, gear youll get naturally on the way to 70, and possible raiding options at 70 (smaller raid size = more people capable of doing so) means that hoarding points for that long (~3months) seems like a bad investment to me.

Nevermind the fact that honor points are capped.

Ive never been a saver though.

I pvp'd this weekend for about 20 hours from fri-sun and got epic raptor mount, enough honor for hwl spellblade, and still have 70 ab tokens left over. You can have the HWL gear in about a 3-4 weeks if you grind it out.

omg! thats the real commitment to the game
i have played this weekend too, mostly ab, played not that much and my team mostly lost the battles...and i have around 11k honor and a number of tokens. so, several days more and warlords spellblade is mine!

I meant that you would only need to grind until BC comes out... which, for the love of God, better not be 3-4 months.

I think I am going to horde my points until BC... then Raid/level upto where some of the new gear begins... then blow my load of points when that happens. I figure this way you keep your points AND can level/PVE gearup while working towards the higher level PVP.

I seem to only get about 500 honor per hour, could be due to the fact that we lose most of the ab's I'm in.

For honor calculation, do you get more honor for dying less? Or is it just damage done and hk's?

Only HK and how many people around to share honor pool of the target (non-npc).

The best way for a solo player to get honor is join AV. Most AV lasts average 20 minutes from start to finish, it doesn't matter horde wins or alliance wins, you get ~400 honor from it. The winning team gets 40 extra honor for killing the final boss, no big deal there. And tokens don't mean anything I threw away 50 AV tokens this weekend.

20 minutes for 400 honor is good, if you are lucky enough to get some good amount of pvp kills from defense, you get up to 600-700 honors.

Unless you are a 5 cap machine in every AB game, you can't beat that.

Since I have my ab marks, i'm headed to av asap.
