how do i take and save the pictures i take in-game on WoW?

Print screen button, right next to F12.

It will appear in your screenshots folder as a .TGA file, which you can convert to a .JPEG file with Adobe Photoshop.

There are several programs that convert Targa (.tga) to JPEG or any other image format. Just google it.

"Irfanview" is a wonderful free viewer that handles many many formats and does conversions.
