Ok so I got into a "heated discussion" with some guildies and it annoyed the hell out of me. They claim the new pvp system is worthless/useless, and a waist of time to go for any of the rewards... when you could just "wait for burning crusade' level from 60-61 in 1 day.. (ya right) 800k experience, sorry but i have a job, so that's out.. and get an upgrade in the first instance you come to.
My annoyance is they are trying to differentiate a) Having a goal for an item which takes a raid in BWL to get. and b) having a goal for an item which takes pvping to get, that is now possible for most.
Would I rather go for BWL and raiding with guildies.. damn straight, but that isn't happening due to attendance drop off. So why not embrace the new system.. take 12 days and get an item.
had to vent, my advice enjoy the pvp sytem.. upgrade your BP .. or 1hander whatever it may be.

BWL items and the high warlord set should last you beyond lvl 61. It's worth it to go for a few of the pvp pieces. You can't believe all the hype... all the projections I've heard is that you'll start seeing tier 1 epics being replaced at around lvl 62 tier 2 at around 63/64 and Tier 3 might hang around until lvl 67 or so. Plus you actually have to get the drops.
People are acting like they are going to go out complete some quests and all of a sudden have a full set of new armor. If it's anything like it is now that is far from true. Take for example my friend ... who is rather noobish I have to admit... so much so that I shake my head at him at times... but he's a lvl 45 hunter and still was wearing a lot of leather. Just because the items quality is going to ramp up drastically doesn't mean you're going to get the high quality items you actually can use.
I'm going to continue gearing up as much as I can pre-expansion (I mean what else is there to do?). That way I would be running around like a lot of lvl 60s you see now with one or two pieces of horrible green armor just because by luck of the draw they haven't been able to replace them with any kind of decent upgrade.

Yeah. Our raiding has lowered to half what it was before the patch. I was hoping we would finish off BWL before BC, but I guess not now. We were working on Chromag.

Exactly!! I've searched through database websites and most 59.9 dps/ 200+max dmg 1h are lvl 67!!! wth would i want to wait that long.. wouldn't this stuff help to level? lol

Leveling won't be a cake walk... It's already been stated that Exp-gain in the Beta was ramped up, so that players could test higher content, faster. Also there's the luck of the draw, again.
My advice is to run instances and PVP your heart out, before TBC goes Live. Get what gear you can, now... and bank up Honor and BG Marks for later use.
The cost of the 60th Epic PVP Rewards and the 65-70th PVP Rewards are supposed to be very different. So save up what you can for the really choice items later, and gear up now through normal means (guild instance runs).
The only exception I can think of would be to buy up a set of Epic PVP Weapons... they're unmatched now, and will remain useful for a good while, unless the RNG is really kind with an instance drop after you get in TBC.

I agree with both points so far, I just couldn't stand trying to justify that i wanted to get the pvp axe or get rid of my valor bp finally.. and get the pvp one.. my point was I like the game still.. which pissed some people off, lol but oh well I do, and didn't mind pvping for 15 days or whatever to get something, now that BWL is no longer due to attendence, we were up to roc/flamegor but no one is around anymore (they are all in beta) from what i can tell.

The HWL/GM sets are equivalent to t2/t3 sets and I expect MANY of those items to last till at least 65, but even if its 63...who cares? It is definitely worth it, even for the blues.
PLUS, like many have said, its not like you are going to instantaneously have a new set at 61. How many 60's are still farming for their t0 sets? MOST.
I think that many of you on this board forget that most of you are in the very top tier of people that play this game. 95% of WoW has prolly never seen the inside of MC muchless BWL. Most 60's only have one purple item, if that. There is also a significant proportion of 60s that still have a green or two if not more.
For 95% or more of WoW, this new pvp system is a god-send.
In addition, i expect most of WoW to not have the expansion for several months after its released. Its not like Blizz will (or even could) sell 9 million plus games in a week, a month or even several months. These changes allow those people to progress and have fun too.
Also, Blizz is rapidly accelerating gearing for a reason. BC is gonna be hard on alot of people. Most of the people that have gone into the expansion are at least t1 geared, far about the vast majority of gamers.
GG Blizz.
What I do find interesting is the the beta too soooo many people off their normal servers that most of the large raiding guilds, at least on Elune, are now running premade pvp groups and hosting MC/Ony/BWL/AQ pugs to gear up alts, farm and have something to do because they dont have enough people to do the raids anymore.

Sooo the main person I was arguing with in guild, was LEADING THE FREAKING GUILD PVP GROUP last night.. how annoying.
Anyway my wife and I are having a blast.. we got about 3k honor over the weekend in limited play time, which is what we enjoy. She (hunter) wants the GM bow, and I want to get rid of my valor/knight captain bp...which is my last blue and way underequip for BC.
Happy hunting.
