View Full Version : Show your 2.0 UI

Just curious about what people have come up with after the patch, and things are starting to calm down enough for some decent addons to show themselves, so I thought I'd ask about all the good and bad UIs out there.

Here's my contribution:

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c342/Gormash/gormash_ui_20.jpg

The main addons here are the hacked versions of Discord Art and Discord Unit Frames, along with Trinity Buttons, SimpleMinimap, Detached Minimap Buttons and AllInOneInventory.

You can't see them on the screenshot, but the party-panels are on the left, stacking upwards. The pet-panel and buttons appear between target and party.
Buffs and Debuffs go on the top of the screen.

Please let me know what you think, good and bad, and post a picture of your own UI!

Like the look of your UI, Edandor, though I can't for the life of me understand how you can play with so few buttons. :-/

I'm also looking for a decent tooltip. I used to have TooltipWrangler, but it's not been updated yet.

Lalaust, no disrespect, but I'm kind of paranoid about links that I don't know where leads, and that address isn't an obvious image-location like Edandor's was. I've not checked it out. Sorry...

Looks like 1 million other UI's I've seen so far. It's a little bit boring. :)

Please post something new or outstanding ... but not another version of all the known and similar UI designs.

Just do an experiment:
play one or two hours ... mind all used buttons. I'm guessing you'll notice that you're using not even 50% of them regulary. :)

Gormash

True, but I like to have them available for WHEN I need to use them. Opening the spellbook in the middle of a battle and finding the right spell really isn't an option.

Anyway, Edandor, I found and old version of ToolTip Wrangler and updated it to work with this patch. I've submitted it to this site, so you can check it out here (http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=3675).
Works like a wonder for me! ^_^

Hmm, why not show us yours instead of giving negative feedback to those quick and brave enough to already have a finished 2.0 UI to show? As long as a UI is effective and easy to use, I'm interested in seeing it for inspiration. So thanks to those who posted already and let's see other screenies, too - bland or flashy!

Gormash, She's a Warrior, She doesn't need alot of buttons, like mine.

Also, I miss alot of my old Addons, Player Frame Meter was one of the best addons ever, hasn't been touched yet. Elite Player frame was fun,

I used to use Tiny Tip, it was nice, but this new one's nice, show's the ToT without having to click on the person, and it's pretty nicely detailed.

 ok... that's a little extreme on the paranoia scale. Are you afraid to log into WoW because someone might spam you with gold ads? Regardless, that's just a screenshot gallery for CTMod. Click with confidence.

Psychuil, i dont mind that UI at all. Can you list the addons that you used? Only problem is, i think it would look too crowded on my res...(i have a crap pc so i have to run wow in 800x600 to pull 20 fps :(

yea, i was going for as clean as possible. but if you play for a while and realize your only using like 5 skills while your grinding, no reason for your screen to be cluttered right? ive also got alot of things bound to keys, like, with my onebag all i do is hit b and it brings up my bag w/ all my slots and stuff, so no reason for that to take up my screen. i also have 2 other hidden action bars that replace my bottom one when i change stance, so technically i have 4 action bars to play with :)

I am really starting to wonder if I am the only one who doesn't mind using the in-game action bars (the default one, the two bottom ones, and the two right ones). I only have addons that improve my gameplay to a certain aspect, but I don't have an altered screen, apart from some extra buttons.

I use default action bars, bottom right, and right side. Thats mainly because i cant find CTmod for 2.01...but it works for me. :)

well, for a long time, this is how my screen looked:

http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/4051/lolscreenshotxl9.th.jpg (http://img352.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lolscreenshotxl9.jpg)

and since i prefer not to go mad and kill myself, i changed it to how it looks on that previous post, where the action bars are smaller and hidden, so i can actually see the game

youl note i dont even have room for my combat log there

To the right you see that instead of CTRA, I use something called Grid. I got it at

http://www.wowace.com/files/

I find its a LOT easier to heal and dispel using that instead of CTRA frames. So much more information in such a tiny space. Its great!

Just to add a little more about Grid:

Each box represents a player. First 4 letters displayed in the box. Think of the background color as a glass full of water. As their hp drops, the "water" level falls, revealing a lighter background. If it falls enough, the name is replaced with the amount of hp they've lost. If a box is hightlighted white, it means you have either targetted them or their hp is getting low or some other reason for your attention. If the box is faded, that means they are out of range of healing.

You can customize and set four "alert dots" in the four corners of everyone's box. In my picture, a red dot in the upper left corner means that player has drawn aggro from something. A green dot in lower left corner means that player has an incoming heal. A dot in the upper right indicates the person has a debuff that can be dispelled using a priest's "dispel magic".

After playing around since 2.01 i got this on my lock, so far so good, a little messy with my scrolling combat text and a crappy mod for my 'backlash' proc but apart from that looks cool :)

THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT! if only a little

Here's mine. It's definitely the most involved UI I've ever used, and it freaking killed my system performance. I dropped all my graphics filters and textures to zero, and I can't seem to get more than 9 or 10 frames per second.
I love the UI look; it's awesome. But so far this is the best performance I can seem to get out of the game with my system. I'm running on an Athalon 64 processor 3400+, with nVIDIA GeForce 6100 card. 1 gig RAM.

Nevermind. My image is not hosted.

I think its so funny to read the chat going on in the screenshots =]

edandor with Tigergirl in general channel asking "DOES ANY 1 WANT TO BE MY FRIEND?"

ChaosInc with Jaamutt saying: 'How many BGs have you done' with Slimcuz replying: Many... I ran it all day Must get to 60!

Good times.

I like my UI default, and only 1 bar.

The only thing that bothers me is the tooltips, but I've got a few mods that I'll try out tonight to improve them. I've tried to keep things together (Blessings, Auras, and so on with the most commonly used functions around my "targeting" HUD)

The casting bar pops up in the middle of the circle. Unfortunately while flying everything is disabled so it's not quite as clear as it should be, but you get the general idea.

mordrak: go through your addon list and disable anything you wont use or don't really need, system wise another GIG of ram would help and perhaps not run programs in the background.. check the processes in task manager, see what is using alot of ram and close those programs if you can. i find IE and torrent/download programs can use up fair bit of memory.

Tanitha, lookin at your ui, why do you have the bag buttons? i never understand this as i always use B to open them and anyone who uses addons will have an all in one addon.

this is my UI. Its my first attempt at making a completely new design from the custom one. My friend and i downloaded a package, and while he just replaced the old stuff with different looking stuff. I decided to move everything and try to design my own. Here is what ive come up with, and i'd appreciate any criticism, as long as you tell me how to fix it =P. I use bartender3, uG unit frames i think its called.I got fubar, crylyosis, Clearfont2, loads of stuff... and the nice looking polished buttons =D. i seem to have a problem with targets, it just feels uneven/messy.

http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/5243/ui3tv1.png

oh yeah, the target goes to the right of the minimap. My casting bar is between the buttons and the minimap.

MarkSzita
25-12-2006, 09:37 PM
it's pretty good, though this is my advice for you..
get fuxpfu which will give you a nice xpbar all the way across the screen attached to the top of your fubar.. then you can get rid of the xp bars on your unitframes cleaning them a bit.. i don't use portraits on the unitframes personally because you can see what you look like and what your enemy looks like, but that's upto you.

put the pet bar on top of the actionbars (unless you like it that way for some reason) and move either the minimap or the actionbars to the right so you can have the map and bars on the same level. doing that will give you more game view. put necrosis above the actionbars or minimap too since it is closed most of the time..

finally, you only have enough fubar addons to fill one bar, so get rid of the top bar and just have the bottom one.

these are just tips so you don't HAVE to do them :P

Your processor and RAM are fine for WoW. You need a graphics card, the GeForce 6100 is an integrated chip (not suitable for games at all).

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c342/Gormash/tempus_ui.jpg

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c342/Gormash/tempus_ui2.jpg

I know, it looks a bit messy, but that's because the option window in the middle is displayed so I can see all the options and icons.

The main bar is at the bottom with two oversized buttons to the left for my extra mousebuttons (I have a Locigtech MX518).
The buttons to the left and right are grouped in blocks of 6 to match my G15 keyboard macro keys.

I've reduced the pet-panels to a simple healthbars and debuff icons since I don't really need to know anything else about them. The pet-action panel is displayed in two rows of 4 buttons each and appear between the player and target panel.

Above the target-panels buffs you can see five blood-drops. This are the combo-points used by rogues and druids in catform.

For those of you not familiar with the Discord mods, the yellow smilies are where the buffs appear, and the green frownly faces are the placements of the buffs.

Please, let me know what you think...

Looks pretty nice. I' would be just too neurotic to have that big solid bars blocking the bottom of my screen, I would have to increase their transparency by quite a bit. But the overall positioning of things looks really nice.

Your best bet is to look through this thread and the other 2.0 UI thread (http://forums.worldofwar.net/showthread.php?t=384148&goto=newpost). Find one you like and if the player hasn't listed their mods, ask them or ask in the thread.

As a basic step, look to getting one of the two major bar plugins (FuBar or Titan). I prefer FuBar, but that's because it was easiest to get running nicely for me.

Then look for a nice button / layout editor. Your choices there are Bongos, Bartender3, Trinity and so on and so forth.

Grab a nice map mod next, something that will keep track of things for you. Cartographer with it's range of map plugins is really incredible, although I've been told that MetaMap (?) is quite good too.

And then you will want to grab Auctioneer. It should be installed with WoW by default
