Hy there,

Been a fan of multi user D+D for years, used to play Everquest. I am here in Uk on holiday and picked up a trial version of Wow and love it. However I actually live in Egypt. I have seen people from all over Europe play the game but does anyone know how it will play from outside EU.

Obviously it is down to internet connectivity and bottlenecks but I don't really want to shell out for a game that turns out to be uplayable. I have a 1Mbit connection which for Egypt is fast. I can watch BBC news 24 online and its fairly reliable.

Also want to know how much it costs, all I have been to find out from blizzard that it "costs the same as a couple of trips to the cinema per month". Now I don't know about here but back home a trip to my local cinema costs me 70p. I also heard that it is possible to pay as you play with some sort of game card, anyone give me anymore information.

Many Thanks

Clavina

The EU price fee is about €12 per month, however it can be cheaper if you pay every 3 months, 6 months or a year. This is if you have a credit card to charge, if you don't then game cards are available online or in computer game shops which will give you a set amount of playtime before requiring a new card. (like pay as you go mobile phones). However I don't know if you would get them in Egypt.

As to the speed of the game, noone can say for sure (apart from other Egyptians!) There are a couple of people from Israel and Russia in our guild who can play with no problems I also know of Turkish players who seem to get along fine. Why don't you get another trial version to try in Egypt before you commit to the full version?

Thanks Clavina,

I would imagine that Israel and turkey would have simelar latency to me in Egypt. Excellent idea about another trial version - just to check it works. Am I correct in thinking that the trial version can be upgraded to the full version buy keying in the security code from the retail version of the game. (That way if it works ok I can get a m8 to buy the retail version and email me the key).

The other issue is about the V.A.T. angle - residing outside the EU I do not have to pay VAT on goods or services supplied from within the EU.

I'll just have to play it by ear - when I get back home after Christmas but I definately want to carry on playing if it's playable back home - If not well maybe I can organise a middle east server!!!!

To play the full game you have to buy and install from the retail CD's so you would have to get them bought and sent over to you. When you register though you can but in the trial details to carry on playing from where you left off in the trial.

As to the tax.. I honestly have no clue! Check your PM's for some further info..

Looks like I'll buy it and take it back with me. I wouldn't trust it to arrive by post. Sounds like it should work fine.

Thanks for the help
