View Full Version : How does the queueing system work?

Dear all,

I've only just started to play WoW in the past week, hooked already of course!

One question - I appear to be on a very busy server, despite it being the one that was "recommended" when I created my character. :ponder:

When I try to log in I often find myself approximately 140th in the queue to get into the server. This is fine, but what bugs me is that my position will go up to 100 or so and then back down to 140 again. It can take up to an hour to get in. Now I don't mind that, but since my position goes up and down, people appear to be able to push in front of me! :cry:

Now, being British, I have very strong views on queueing, and it hardly seems fair that people get to push in front of me! I originally thought it was because I was on a free trial, but even now I have subscribed I'm still at the back of the queue... Makes me angry! :evil:

Does anybody know why this mught be?

Thanks,

Tibbs

It's a blizzard tool, they're notoriously unaccurate ;-).

Edit;

You wouldnt've happened to roll a character on the new server that opened? They fill up amazingly fast.

That sounds like a really bad situation to be in. My server is officially full but we rarely have queue's at all!

If you are not too high level then i would seriously consider rerolling on a different server. When picking a server I usually go for one that is at Low or even Medium population as the recommended ones get filled up stupidly fast.

And if you are too high a level, you can transfer your toon to another server these days. Maybe make a new toon on any prospective servers and see if you end up in a queue there first, though. If you end up in a queue no matter what server you choose, then I'm afraid that Bliz customer service is the only option as I wouldn't know what would cause that. I'm a resident of five servers, and no queue on any of them. Atm... :-)
[I'd also recommend you get thee to a city to listen in on the general tone of the server. Perhaps also ask a few high-level toons of your class if they think it's a good server?]

I think I've figured it out.

Even though I upgraded my trial account, it didn't cancel. It runs until the 26th December, at which point the free month I got for buying the box will kick in.

Still means I can't use the AH or trade, and I'll still not get priority when there's a queue, which is a pain, but at least I know now.

This is the second time I've levelled up my undead warlock (did it once on the US server) and I'm not keen to do it for a third time in as many weeks.
