Weapon Skill in BG's?

I saw a thread about weapon skill and it reminded me to ask this. Does weapon skill matter in BG's? My 19 rogue twink has been doing BG's for quite some time now, but I went out to hunt down some alliance in Redridge last night. Anyways, I hit a few bunnies while I was out there, and I saw, "Mace skill increased to 2." So I looked it over, my daggers were at 21, my mace was at 2, etc.

But in the battlegrounds it doesn't seem to matter. I am hitting for exactly what I *thought* Ishould be hitting....so DOES it matter? Would my dmg go up if I leveled the skills?

as I understand it, in bg's and duels, your weapon skill is automatically maxed. rasing it to it's max naturally will do nothing for it in bg's/duels. Not sure about the crit rating. While in bg's/duels, your crit rating will show the value based on your actual weapon skill + buffs. I have heard that it too is raised to meet the value of what it would be if it were maxed, although it won't change on your character screen.

I appears that this is all true. I ran some damage and crit tests with a 2hander mace that is at 95, and a 2hander axe that is at 1. Both hit for the same damage and at the same crit rate, while in bg's and duels.

thanks for looking into this for me....I was worried I wasn't living up to full potential! Now, what about non-duel, non-BG pvp (i.e. world PVP)?

not sure, but, I think world pvp goes off of your actual listed stats. I haven't done any since the arenas came out..............nobody to fight.

I used to que up in ashenvale and then run to the barrens in between matches and try to duel or let people jump me. Now everyone is in the arena. I'm gonna check when I get some time, but, I'm pretty sure it's based off your actual weapon skill and not automatically maxed.

Funny story:

Last time I was doing this I decided to head to Ogimmar and watch the big boys duel and see if there were some ?? that would duel me. While I was waiting most of the horde was being cool, except for this shadow priest who was messing up everything. Some Alliance 60's came out to duel and this shadow priest kept intefering with other people's duels. He killed me anytime I approached someone to duel.

I waited in wisp form and positioned myself right behind him and then just watched him as he dueled other horde, still flagged for pvp. I skip my wsg que wating for the perfect opportunity.........and then it happens. He has a losing duel in which he goes OOM in the process. As soon as he goes to sit and drink, I rez/Charge........automatic crit for 282.............dead 60. The entrance to ogimmar goes crazy with "KEK's." I got a tell from the level 60 warrior that was dueling earlier and he was in hysterics. My guild vent was full of laughter. Good times.

haha, yea I do the same thing in front of IF...except we have to watch our for all the guards. Thank god for vanish....and I never get any laughs /cry
