How to transfer wow gold?

Can someone fill me in on whether it is possible to transfer gold to a character of the opposite faction. I have an alliance character and would like to transfer around 10 gold to my horde character. Searched throughout the forums and came up with different results... some say it can be done using a neutral AH, but others say you can not buy your own items. I need a definite answer to avoid wasting my time and possibly losing gold.

There is no way to directly transfer your gold from your Alliance characters to your Horde ones. You are correct that you cannot bid/buyout on your own auctions in the neutral AH. The usual workaround is to get the assistance of a trusted third party who has a character with neutral AH access.

For example, your Horde character would place an item on the neutral AH with a buyout set to the amount of money you're aiming to move across, and your Alliance character would give the third party the amount of money you wish to transfer to your Horde character. The third party then buys the Horde character's item with your money. This has the potential to go wrong if the third party isn't as trustworthy as you thought (and if you do decide to do it, remember to place something of no value on the AH to conduct the transfer -- something like a single piece of light leather is typical).

You'll need to set the price for more money than you are wanting to transfer. The Neutral AH takes a hefty chunk out of the sales-price in admin-costs.

Yeah third party is the only way.... and I'm not seeing it as worth the hassle for 10 measley gold.

You might want to try identifying something that is cheaper alliance side than horde side and just sell that across at a minimal price, then sell it horde side and hope the difference in value between factions covers the AH cut. It would prolly require some research using Auctioneer to pull off tho.
