I dont mean to bring anyone down or discourage anyone but I just dont see why everyone is in a rush to get their pvp gear now. For the most part the Alliance averages 500 honor an hour with the long ques and the suck pugs vs pre mades. I cant speak for the horde side. Anyhow, thats roughly 80 hours for Grand Marshall weapon or half that for any GM piece of armor set. Those are basically equivalent to tier 2.5 or maybe tier 2.
I finally got a chance to try beta of the TBC. Within the first 2 hours I got a quest reward equal to tier 2 pants at level 61. I was skeptical about the people who came on the boards and posted how sick the drops were but until i actually got one myself it didnt truly set in that pvping now is just a waste of time.
In my honest opinion, you are much better off farming mats and gold right now. You will replace your pvp rewards that you get now within the first week of TBC.
There is one reason to pvp now and thats to save honor until level 70. Most people know that the best pvp rewards are coming from the arena which does not use honor however there are still some really good rewards at 70 that you can get with honor.
Anyways just thought id give my 2 cents.

The adult in me says yes, I should be farming gold and mats, and get my herb/alch lvl 41 alt up to lvl 60. But the kid in me says ZOMG GM EPIXXX!
Thats why I eat Frosted Flakes.

PVP could be fun, as it is to me. For me its not an obligation getting into pvp for the nice rewards.

I understand we will be replacing our gear in BC but "every" piece right away? i dought highly that i will replace my entire set of gear in a week. If i'm wrong then great i get new gear but if my suspisions of it taking 3-4 levels to replace my gear then im glad i dont have any weak spots now.

There are a few reasons why I am going to nod at the wisdom of your sage advice and ignore it anyway.
1. I started playing in April of this year. I didn't get my first 60 until August due to the disease known as alt-itis and about the first thing I did when I did get my first 60 was roll another toon and level that to 60. That second 60 is now my main but the alt-itis continued after that for awhile. As a result, I have 2 60s and 4 other toons in their 40s as well as a couple of others in their 20s. Also as a result of this, I have spent insufficient time really trying to gear at least one of my 60s.
I want my main to be fully purpled before the expansion hits, plain and simple. With the dropoff in raiding due to the holidays and the looking expansion, my only option is the BGs. Will a few extra blue to purple upgrades make much difference in my levelling speed in TBC? Probably not, but I want to done it anyway. Call it an illogical moral imperative but there it is.
2. Until the PTR, I had generally avoided BGs altogether. Most of my career HKs were from world PvP. I hated the old honor system and was disheartened by BG PUGs. In fact, prior to the PTR I had only been in AV once on any character at all and AB only 3-4 times.
Now I love them and I enjoy playing them much more than I enjoy grinding or completely the handful of quests around the globe I might have previously missed. There is also virtually nothing that drops in 5-10 man content left that would actually be an "up" for me. The class trinket from DM Lib is the last instance piece I had any desire for and I got it weeks ago.
So do I grind for cash that:
1. I don't really need. I basically have about 1500g sitting around with no plans to spend it on anything?
2. Will be substantially devalued in the TBC anyway since it will be much easier to get 100g in TBC than it is now?
Or do I BG for some epix?

I think we are all missing the obvious point of grinding out epics . . . finally my toon will look like his class!!
I'm so sick of being this "evil horde warlock" that looks like a dislexic toddler dressed me. (no offense to any dislexic toddlers out there)
Green hood, greyish/white shirt that looks like scales, blue / orange pants, something that looks like giant leaves wrapped around my feet but leaving my gorgeous square orc toes hanging out, purple gloves with a matching purple belt . . . and a big stick on my back.
Weeee the villagers run from me from sheer laughter at the sight of me!!
/sarcasm . . . but not really
Having numerous 60's all with a mix of gear, and even more alts spread around . . . PvP gear grind with my two mains will allow me to fully brandish my Epeen self to the world and look like the terrifying evil warlock that I always have been on the inside.

I am doing it for the rewards since i don't raid anymore, but i only want like 2 or 3 items, not the whole set that would take to much patience...
Already have one item i wanted in like 2 days when i get the other one i'll just have more fun with the other alts... Already lvled another alt to 60 and got some pvp blue stuff in it, since i runned to much strat/scholo/ubrs/lbrs so i can say i did alot more instances than pvp...

Although I wish I could say that I don't do it for the rewards but the fact is I started PVP for the HWL staff, (I hear a good 2 hander is hard to find in TBC) But what I discovered is that I had sooo much fun in BGs that it didn't even compare to doing the same 5 man over and over again for better blues. Some just like pvp more than pve I guess.

Simple fact is - for my Druid there isn't any better attainable gear currently (certainly not with Rogues outrolling me on the one remaining piece that would be an upgrade).
My rogue is an alt and wouldn't (until those rogues outrolled me at least...) take items from a Rogue main. BG weapons were the only realistic option of decent weapons for her.,
