A thread to post your close encounters with the idiot kind! It's been ages ago since we had one of these, and reading them always made me feel ambiguous. One part was deeply depressed and the other part couldn't stop chuckling at the idiocy of some people.
So, have you encountered any idiots in game lately? People calling you a ninja for no obvious reason? People totally full of themselves but giving in to the stress when the first add appears around the corner? People calling you 'noob' when they are clearly wrong about things? Post it here!
How about annoying people who run up to you and just open up the screen for signing their stupid guild charter without even bothering to ask you first. I hate that.

... or even noticing that you're already in a guild.
I did have a moron begging for 40 silver the other day. I usually don't do anything in these situations, but I decided to give him two health potions I'd outgrown. He responded that they wouldn't give him 40 silver. <sigh> Want me to take them back?
I had some guy begging me for money, so I gave him 1 copper.

I actually had a guy following me around in Org begging for 1g. I told him i dont give money away, because i grind for it, so its mine, and that he should go grind for an hour and he would have that 1g. But hell no, he was persistent and said to me: "c'mon man, i am a low lvl you need to help me out in this world or ill never get there" :S
By this time i had really outgrown my patience and i told him some not so very nice things. He even got one reply in before i ignore him, and it went a bit like this: "you are a noob, you dont deserve to play this game and ill report you"
This comment kinda made my day, because i couldnt stop laughing. Told my guild about that guy, and it seems another guy from my guild knew him and we had a very long and good laugh about him :)
Thought i'd share.
Cheers

Ok, I've jsut had another Idiot.
Got offered the Amazing price of 10 COPPER for my Gurky Password when I clearly told them I ahdn't saved it or rmeembered it or puld ever give it out.
10 Copper, WOW, I sohuld have took the offer *whacks self in the head* >>
Some complete idiot saw me with my new Gurky, and came over and asked me for the code. I told him it could only be used once, so he offered money. I told him I'd already used it, he offered more money. After about 5 mins of spam I took 10g off him and gave him a random code.
Oh..I just had one. Me, lv 59 shadowpriestess in Garon's Writhing. 3 Alliance farming the same field. Up come a lv 52 orc warrior and his lv 58 mage friend and he goes: "Buff me". I say :"Not while you are PvP enabled". He laughs and says "I give you 1 gold" and opens the trade window to put money in there.
I tell him that I will not buff him while 3 Alliance are about and I kind of don't fancy to spend the next hour corpse running and being ganked. He proceeds to call me a "n00b". I suggest that he "...Finds another server that is not-RP if he choses to call people n00b" and leave him with the words "I hope you die, kind sir".
Not more than two minutes later he and his buddy are slaughtered by a lv 60 hunter. I actually congratulated the hunter. These two guys spend a lot of time dead while I grinded on and I finally found somebody for my ignore list after 2 years...

I went to ZF last night, me being a 47 feral druid, the party had: 41 paladin (leader), 47 warrior, 44 druid, 48 priest.
The paladin was insisting that he was going to be the tank and since he was the leader, we let him have a go. We let him die twice, each time I picked up the agro of the 3 level 45-6 elites that were hitting him and finnishing them off with no trouble.
After that he decided I could tank and the whole thing went very smoothly thank god.

Surely the easy solution is take the money, buff him, let the alliance gank you, run back to your corpse, wait for PvP to turn itself off, rez.
Surely at level 59 your repair bill for 1 death will be significantly less than 1g. Plus as it's an RP server, the alliance might not even gank you.

Yesterday this person whom whispered me, asked for my help. I was not doing anything, so I decided to help him. Being the nice person that I am. He was doing an Elite quest south of hammerfall. We had to kill a 44 elite. I am a 46 feral druid, so a 44 elite, by myself was not exactly the easiest thing to do. The mobs around him were respawing quite quickly. He was a shaman. I gave him 1 job. Don't let me die. Needless to say I died 4 times. I should have known better and I should have kept a better eye on my own health.
I would be attacking a mob (or 2) and he would be casting behind me.. WTF man, and you wonder why you have no mana. I told him to stop casting and just heal. That and I would be attacking 2 mobs while he was behind me healing, causing the agro on himself from the 2 mobs I was attacking. Instead of sitting there and letting me retake the agro, he would back up and gain agro from the 2 guards behind him. Thus leading to another 2 unfortunate deaths.
That and going into ZF with a level 39 warrior that thinks he knows how to tank... SIGH.... That was until I went bear and out tanked him.

I was doing the 'The Den' elite quest solo at level 32 shaman, its green for me. Here comes along a party of 2 a undead priest level 28 and a warrior level 23. The invite me to join them. I am hesitatant since the elites are 26-28, but I join them anyway. We are going fine and then get into about 3 elites attacking. The warrior goes down but we survive and raise the warrior. The warrior runs and grabs 4 more elites while we have no mana, so the priest and me die, but the warrior lives somehow. We get back alive and refreshed and buffed the priest jumps down a level and the warrior follows. So, being a good party member I jump down with them knowing they cant survive with out me. Well the warrior pulls 3 and the priest pulls 2. I think we killed 3 but the warrior was dead and then the priest starts running back up the passage drawing more in, so we die again. Well those 2 decide to quit and resurrect at the graveyard. I head back by myself. The priest tells me there is no way I can get through all the creatures. Well I do get through the creatures, only to find out the idiot was me as I forgot to get the key in the lantern outside as the quest says to get the 3 other keys inside. But I did fight my way back out and get the key without dying.

OMG tell me about it... Had one of the typical "leet speak" key board gangstas in AV yesterday. Had him in back to back games.... typical ... "shut up noob"... "Learn2Play" type BS... and telling everyone how to play their class. In the second game he keeps going on and on about how that's why Horde loses (because they don't do what he tells them). At that point I say no people are just sick of hearing some kid rant and rave for no reason. He tells me to "shut up and do something then"...
Funny thing is not only were we winning but I was on top of the killing blows and HKs for the entire game with only 3-4 deaths and had outdamaged everyone by at least 20k... meanwhile he's a rogue with one killing blow. LOL Someone else alerted him to that fact and that was the last we heard from him.
I'm gonna have to say though that a lvl 47 hunter asking when you get a pet and being booted for ninjaing all the soul shards are the best.

Personally I hate people who spam requests, such as requests for duels or "Soandso invites you to a group". I mean, once, fine, whatever. But three, four times in a row? I mean, it must work or they wouldn't do it, but sheesh!
I now use NoDuel, a mod that lets you give custom whispers to someone who is spamming duel requests and then ignores them on the fifth one. It lets you program a different request for each time the same person spams you. Mine go something like:
1. Sorry, too busy plotting world domination to duel you today. Duel request cancelled.
2. Honestly, I'm not going to duel you, so please stop asking. Duel request cancelled.
3. Doesn't "no" mean anything to you? Duel Request CANCELLED.
4. You know, one definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different resuts.
On #5, autoignore.

I'm glad I'm not the only person that finds that fun
Picture this. A ZF run. I'm a warrior, the tank of the group, backed up by a Rogue, Mage, Priest and another Warrior. The Mage, Rogue and Priest are pretty chatty and seem to know their class fairly well, but the warrior never said anything. He never answered questions, all he did was autoattack and press 'Greed'.
So, after a while I switched to the Combat tab of chat to see what he was doing. It was kinda hard to see between the Rogues dual daggers and the mages Fireballs but after a few minutes of careful observation I noticed all was using was Bloodthirst.
He was using a 2H and spent all his time in Combat Stance, so I asked him why he never switched and used Whirlwind. He replied 'Don't have it'. I asked him why, he said he was fury. I asked him why he wasn't in 'Zerker stance for the crit increase and Death Wish, he said 'what?' I said, 'Y'know, Berserker Stance, like Defensive Stance.' And he replied, 'Whats Defensive Stance?' As we were about to hit a boss I said I'd explain later and left him doing some meagre dps.
At the end I chatted to him and it turnt out he hadn't done any warrior quests, didn't know about any stances, and hadn't even found out about the skill trainers. All he had was auto-attack, Heroic Strike Rank 1 and Bloodthirst. he thought whirlwind was an Arms talent. He was, in short, an idiot. I helped him of course, and now hes merely a bad player, instead of the atrocious one he used to be. At least he has the option to be good now.

I'm curious Idol. What level had he managed to reach?
44. How he managed to get that far without someone enlightening him I don't know. The grind when just using auto-attack must of been terrible. I assume people just slapped him on ignore like someone above did to the Hunter who asked about the pet. He doesnt have any friends playing the game, and seems to have a bad reputation on the server. I advised him to read boards like this until he has a good grasp of the game, then transfer to another server. Even though he has improved no one is willing to give him a second chance, and I'm getting tired of him.
Don't do that by the way, try and help them. Ignore is for people being assholes, not people who don't know how to play the game.

The simple fact that he reached 44 is impressive. That level of perseverance is amazing. Of course, almost everyone who has played a Paladin to level 60 will know all about leveling with auto-attack  (Kidding!)
If he's on The Venture Co, send me his IGN via PM please. I'd love to group with him for a while and just share some in-game experience.
Nah, hes on Khadgar with my Warlock and one of my many warriors. Venture Co is RP, isn't it? Maybe I could convince him to transfer there with promise of friendly company. :D

People expecting heals when clearly out of combat and thus with plenty of opportunity to sit down and eat is one of my pet peeves as a BG healer.
Although, people demanding heals and not making any remote effort to prevent the Warrior behind them from ripping me a new one, and then daring to complain about not getting enough healing gets my blood boiling too.

Yeah but by FAR the bigger problem in BGs is healers NOT healing-- not in thier groups or in the whole raid. Yes, there is usually one or two that do the healing-- but thats not enough. When I look at the healing totals --it is pathetic!
I only ask for a heal when i need it (might die). And have never gotten one in those cases. I have gotten randomly healed b4 by someone who was paying attention. But compared to doing instances the heals in BGs are less than 10% of that. It's crazy.
Mostly I just pretend that I'm on my own on health. Which is how you have to play it- but it's a shame the team could be so much more effective if healers grouped and healed the group more. I mean, you can't beat Baron Rivendare without heals, why should be the Bgs be any different?
Dutchgrass
27-12-2006, 11:40 AM
Because a large portion of people I encounter in BGs don't deserve the heals as they make extremely poor use of the added hp I'm providing them.
Also, a lot of healers tend to use PUG PvP (I heal far more often in premades) to do something else than healing for once.

Ok, now my real pet peeve is when spending 45 minutes getting a group togethe for BRD or UBRS -- and someone rushes in-- doesn't share Quests, doesnt buff, doesnt decide on puller ect.
And when their is a boss, they again rush before cooldowns and end up with a group wipe that takes 10 minutes to regroup on-- when all they had to wait was 2 minutes for cooldowns.....

Most unfortunate: lvl60 paladin who can't res.
Most annoying in instances: people who sit still inbetween fights, waiting for a heal. What did you think you have food for.....

Give me someone with the IQ of a mouse-dropping but willing to listen and learn over the arrogant ... genius who won't listen. I don't care if the latter is "God's gift to gaming", if you're in a group, you need to at least pretend to listen to the others and occasionally even say why you want to do things a certain way. Someone who is not very clever (and that can be me at times...) takes patience and time, but you at least get a thank you at the end of it and can feel good about your actions instead of coming away spitting wasps.

I note that you have indicate that you ask for heals...And talk about instances....
In instances, you know your job is to tank mobs, and you need to help the healer if he/she gets aggro...their job is to heal you and they do so.
Rarely does any melee person (that I see) wanting heals in BG actually go out of their way to try to protect a healer. Do you?
If you fight peeps, and don't watch the healer and try to kill peeps attacking the healer, its no wonder there aren't many heals coming....IMO, folks that want a BG team to operate similarly to how teams in instances operate, should exhibit the team traits they want.....
Its no wonder that I'm shadow most of the time in BG's...

I do have to say that when I'm wrecking shop in BGs (even pugs) and I assist my healers I get more heals... And I also understand that a lot of healers do not like the idea of being heal bots and they get enough of that in raiding or instance running. PvPing is a means to have fun and they want to deal damage. You don't expect warriors to sword and board it in BGs.. so why expect healers to sit back and watch your health bars?
If you want heals the best thing you can do is save a priest during a BG. He won't forget.

One of my guild mates and I need to go through ST and so I use the new LFG to put together a group. I get a whisper from a priest asking if she can come along. We had no healer yet and though she was a little low, it wasn’t enough to matter too much. We get inside and we start heading one way and she instantly starts in with demanding where we’re going and insisting we’re going the wrong way for what we were going for first (I don’t remember now what it was). My guild mate and I had just done the instance a few hours earlier to help a friend and we both knew we were going the right way. She argues for a few more minutes, insisting she’s done this tons of times before finally saying “Fine we’ll go your way but when it turns out you’re wrong I’m going to be really pissed.” To which we both reply, that’s fine. We were in fact right about the way and the only apology she offers is telling us how she got turned around.
Not 15 minutes after we get in she starts in criticizing how everyone is playing their class and starts in on me about how my marking is confusing, though I’d explained it for her 3 times already. So I finally get frustrated and tell her she can mark and give her the lead. That was one of my stupidest moments by far. She stops complaining about the marking but continues telling people how to play each class and pointing out any mistakes on our part. Yet if we even dared to say anything that wasn’t praise about how well she was doing she would accuse us of having attitudes.
Well we get to the part with the prophet where the trolls fear like crazy. We all are well aware that we need to pull them far back anyone who gets feared won’t agro more. The priest of course is telling me how she already knows that because she’s been through so many times before. Well on the second mob we try to pull she runs to them and of course gets feared and agros another group and we wipe. Right away she starts yelling at the tank (who she’s been criticizing the most the whole time) saying it was his fault. Now this poor guy has been doing much better at putting up with her rants at him than I or most people would have and I know for a fact that this wipe was not him at all. I point out that fact and she tries to change it to that while she did get feared she saw him get feared too, which was totally untrue and she finally shutup. Well we kill the rest of the mobs and the prophet. His kilt drops and the other warlock in the group asks if he can need it. The rest of the group either didn’t need it or had it and so we said sure. The priest agreed as well though she made a comment about it not being a kilt a warlock needed. Well the tanks makes some comment that wasn’t maybe the politest but it wasn’t really that bad, especially compared to ones she’d made to him. Next thing I know the tank is no longer in the group. I assume he’s left because he’s sick of her attitude and then I get a whisper from him asking me to please have her invite him back in because she’d kicked him. I tell her to invite him again and big surprise she doesn’t and he’s forced out of the instance. I avoid confrontation as much as possible but at this point I’m livid as this guy had been doing a great job tanking. I asked her why in the world she would kick him especially without asking any of us and she starts in on how he’s been giving her attitude all night and she is the group leader. I point out that she’s only the group leader because she wanted to mark. She ignores me and invites one of her friends to come tank (who is a lower lever than the priest). She then starts ordering me to summon the girl. I tell her that I can’t summon her unless I’m outside the instance or the girl is inside the instance. She doesn’t believe me and asks the other warlock who tells her the same thing. I’m still trying to talk to her about the tank she’d kicked and she tells me to be quiet and go help her summon so we can keep going. At that point I was done. I have never left a group ever in the middle of an instance unless there was some emergency and I had to get off the game but I told her that she had some major attitude problems and that I would not be continuing and left the group. My guild mate left as well. The other warlock from the group whispered me later that night and told me that as soon as my friend and I left she started yelling at him about how he shouldn’t have needed the kilt because warlocks shouldn’t wear it and when he started to explain why he did she told him that she rolled a 60 lock and that obviously he was a noob or something. At that point he also left the group. Needless to say I put her on ignore the second I left group.

Random player: "Where did you get that [Mini-Diablo|Zergling|Panda Cub]?"?
Me: "WoW CE"
Random player: "Where can I get it?"
Me: "Less of a matter of 'where' and more of a matter of 'when' -- they were available before WoW was launched, and were sold out before WoW hit the shelves."
Random player: "Why can't I get one now?"
Me: "They were sold out two years ago -- you *might* be able to find one on eBay."
Random player: "That's stupid. Blizzard shouldn't make exclusive things for people who can spend money."

and give her the lead. That was one of my stupidest moments by far.
Ouch.....
If you wanted to have some fun, you could have feared a mob before you left, to give the priest something to do....

Playing a priest myself I would have to say that even if the warrior was the one that got feared the wipe would have been at least partly her fault. She DID know that those fears are dispellable didn't she?
I try to be on my dispell button even more than my heals in that portion of ST. Shackle one of them as they run at you and keep the people alive while watching for the fears. Sure the rogue may have to step back and bandage before we break the shackle since I am mana hording (I will usually bandage them myselves if waiting on a shackle) but at least we all live and we aren't pulling multiple groups.
My idiot story is from last night. My warrior fiance and I were wandering around doing some farming in epl for flowers and mines when we got whispered to do Scholo. I haven't pugged since Mara but figured no one else was on from the guild and we were bored so why not?
There was already a warrior all decked out in pvp gear while my fiance is strictly tank gear but the hunter insisted the first warrior tank instead of dps it up. He was a great guy and did a fine job so no complaints about the tanking (he had like 900 life and 200 armor less than my fiance but he still did a great job) the warlock in the group was also very good - he only hellfired once and he warned me first so that I could keep him shielded and healed. The hunter though was a total idiot. He insisted on breaking shackles even though they were clearly marked before hand. He insisted on being the puller though we had 2 prot spec warriors with bows. He flat out refused to wait for my mana past about 60% full and he refused to move out of the green disease clouds when the ghouls died.
He also pulled groups other than those the warrior marked which either lead to 2 groups at a time or just a scramble to pick out the targets to tank/offtank/dps/CC.
Near the end at LoreKeeper Pollket (the one that has like 5 massive pulls of multiple non elites in his room) the guy actually sent his pet at the boss before we finished off the last pull which put me into combat so we started that fight with no mana on myself or the warlock. The warriors had to take turns tanking and then back out and let me bandage them. The warlock wanded about 80% of the fight since he didn't want to lifetap too much since I needed mana for the warriors and the bandage timer takes forever. The hunter pet died mid fight and after we finally beat this guy down with autoshot and warrior dps the hunter had the nerve to ask me to res the pet since he had no mana..... Well doofus neither do I, thanks so much. I refused and kept drinking since I figured as soon as the pet was up he wouldn't wait for me to remana before starting the next room.
I hope I am not coming across as too harsh, we were a seriously hefty group for Scholo and yet thanks to mister hunterman we wiped 3 times.
Lets see ... funnier idiot - A guy last night /Y ing in Org trying to speak gangsta style and failing miserably several yells of "what was he saying?" were answered by one "Excuse me, I speak Jive." and then a translation. flashback to Airplane.

I have lived that hunter story in almost every instance I've been through. Breaking crowd control, aggro a ton of mobs with their pet and pull all kinds of mobs. Not to mention forgetting to dismiss your pet before jumping down to the arena in ubrs before the rend fight.
All pretty common in groups I've been in.

I'm sure if you had a reasonbly geared lock and a tank in pvp gear to dps you probably could have four manned with less trouble. LOL... I always get a kick when someone refuses to move out of the green clouds in scholo. If I was a healer you'd only get two warnings then I let you die. Sadly I'm not and all the healers I know seem to be nicer than I. I can't wait to get my warrior leveled up though and let aggro happy dps classes die.

Heh trust me that thought along with a couple other not so nice ones crossed my mind but I refrained...I really am very non-confrontational so just ranting at her and leaving in the first place was way out of character for me...anything more would've been too wild and crazy for me

Yeah the shackle was brought up and then at the last minute she didn't want to do that. And same with dispelling the fear but for a reason I was never able to get out of her she ran into the mob the tank pulled about 2 seconds after him.
But I feel much better after reading everyones posts here, good to know I had it easy compared to some

being a pally, i have MH'd my fair share of 5 mans. i have done exactly that numerous times. warn, warn, die. they usually never figure it out either is the best part! and the occasional rogue who is overzealous and pulls aggro EVERYSINGLE DANG TIME is always the first to die.

scholo yesterday, we were 4 at the door, waiting for the pally to tank. since he needed to finish something we began to clear and was chain pulling since we were able to. then he joined us.
- Guy stop pulling (why? we can handle it)
- let me buff (you can buff in combat)
- guy let me get mana (sit and drink then...)
- guy.... (dude, don't worry, we were chain pulling before you came, relax, enjoy the ride, we don't have the night anyway  )
but he wasnt an idiot and done his job pretty well, just not prepared to team with player in T2/3 (not me but other, i was playing my priest 57) who only need to make some flask :P
one of the fastest scholo run I made :)
a lot of good story but "booted because he was ninja'ing soulshard" was the best by far
that guy who were undergeared in AQ20 (understand lv 40-50 green and some blue AV reward)... Manslayer of Quiraji drop, 2-3 good player wanted it but we allow him to get it. 1 week after the patch (so around ~2 week later) I see him in BG:
- hey why do you use those 2 crap (lv ~50), you have that awesome rare 2h.
- got deleted, I didnt liked it.
and he was whining about us giving nothing to him....

This isn't really a random idiot story, just a response I came up with to discourage the random idiots who send random invites to random groups.
"I'm playing with myself at the moment. Could you please bother someone else?"

Nawe, they have all kinds of random names. I play on an RP server and over the last few months the rp faction has gone on a reporting spree. I personally approve of that as I am not a fan of--
AAAARRRAAGON
LEGOLLLAASS
IKILLJOO
PWNER
KILLZ
GUYKILLZU
etc etc etc

The other day I was fooling around Ratchet with my mage alt when a shammie run dup to me in wolf form and simply say "Buff me".
I'm one of those boring people that enjoy good manners so I told him "I don't do demands, but if you ask nicely I'll give you a buff". He replied with "<sexual activity beginning with F> you" and ran away.
Being stupid as I am I sent him a whisper saying "You know, learning some manners might serve you better in the long run". He replied saying "Get lost im reporting u for verbal abuse ur ignored".
*sigh* People are STUPID!
Oh well, can't do anything but laugh at the matter. ^_^

ok I seemed to have bumped into the local idiot the other day. Im on ER a rp server...i was wearing just a dress and belt...as i often do when not raiding...caught the boat to auberdeen to herb hunt in felwood...then the elf next to me said:
"Where are you clothes?"
"in my bags"
"I've inspected you and going to report you"
"What????"
" you have bought this character"
"Welcome to a rp server and my ignore list" smiles

Just to make this clear... not ALL hunters are idiots like this,
idiots come in every class and flavor... hunters somehow just got this bad reputation of being ninja's and idiots, don't know why... many friends are hunters and are good at playing em and I never saw any of em ninja anything.
Got a lvl60 hunter myself... don't think I'm considered an idiot (and certainly not a ninja) either.
Pity that such general reputation sometimes leads to conclusions before taking the time to see wether the person (regardless of what class he / she plays) can play or not.

hum, I think I have one :)
I was playing one of my alts near brill, and this undead rogue (of course) spams duel invites at me. Every one of these was declined, and followed by a firm but nice message saying I didn't want to duel.
I then get 2 whispers from him telling me I'm a coward and questionning my sexual preferences, and so on.
In the process of running to UC, I then stop to write a ticket (yeah, I felt like reporting that idiot, for once). He sees that, insults me for ticketing a GM. Good way to plead your cause, my man !
He got a temp ban a couple hours after :p
