Hey,

Not sure if this is technical but it didnt seem to fit in with anything else so here goes;

When I opened my WOW box this morning it didnt seem to have a FREE MONTH CODE anywhere on it or a card maybe...Did i loose it in all the wraping paper or am i missing something. Luckily I recieved a 60 day pre-paid card and I already registered that? Now what up with my 30 day free trial, did i lose it or am i just stupid?

It appears you're just stupid. When you register your account using the Cd key contained on the inside of the box, the 30 days free are automatic. Why print and make all users unnecessarily enter in a code for that standard 30 days free, when accounting can just whack the extra time on upon account creation using a very simple automated process?

Phrasing Kalos.. Phrasing.. Getting a wee bit too close to flaming there.

Sense of humour failure? It was a quip in response to the direct ultimatum in the OP's own post rather than anything with hostile intent. It'd be a fairly lame insult if that was the intent. If you wish apologies can be made, but I see them unneccessary in this case, as far as I know nobody took it at face value, least of all the OP.

For those of you that haven't got it, it wasn't an insult. Examine the OP, then my post. There is a connection upon a level of wit. Low brow wit. Open to interpretation as an insult yes. But not everything in life is meant with the same seriousness. And ultimately, the post gave the relivant detail, as well as unneccessary social interactive statements such as the first line.

I guess there shall have to be changes.

Not so much a failure in the sense of humour department, as more a different taste in humour.

While, I can understand that you meant it in jest, it looks a wee bit too much like what we'd see on the official forums. And that's not a good thing imnsho. Hence my request to watch the phrasing please..

(Might be a different situation, if the two of you were long standing friends. But even then, on a public board, we cannot take any chances, because before you know it you got a flamewar on your hands.)

Hey,

I thought this thread was dead. I gave Kalos and other members two choices to catagorize my experience, as either my either 'losing my free trial or my stupidity"..he anwsered my question and i had no problem with it. End of story, Kalos was no where near wrong, no offense.

Hwesta, whether or not you had a problem with it or not is largely irrelevant. We have certain rules (http://forums.worldofwar.net/rules) on these boards, we ask our members to abide by said rules (http://forums.worldofwar.net/rules). And we have those rules and we enforce those rules, because we do not wish to end up like the official forums, where flamewars are a lot more common than they are here.

It matters little what options the original poster puts down, there always tend to be a third way to answer the question, yet at the same time abide by the rules we have here. I point to some of the material in Commandment 10, as relevant to the point I'm trying to make here. In particular the second and penultimate sentences in that paragraph.

Could we not be playing the whole "We must be upper class holier than the infamous Bnet kiddies" theme a little too hard? I mean, when it gets between social interactions where nobody was really complaining or had a problem, it's a little unnecessary. Sure if someone's hurt or insulted, by all means make with the warnings or even the bannings.

We're not a mob. We're not preaching freedom of speech. We're just wondering why a mountain is being made of a harmless quip that has failed to produce a brawl, that was noticed after all possibility of such a break out had passed on and died.

Kalos, how often have we not seen someone else, take offense at something that was written, even though the OP and the respondant didn't find it offensive in the first place. That's one of the many reasons how flamewars get started.

And sorry, I can't drop the: "we must be better than the BNet kiddies" attitude, it's part of the job description I'm afraid.

As a Mod, it's part of my job to keep the forums clean, so no advertising, no flamewars etc etc etc. If, I so much as see something that could spiral into a flamewar, I'm supposed to put on some hobnailed boots and then dance the polka on it. Now, I don't particularly dance, so hence my request to think about how you phrase something, irrespective of how the OP requests what s/he wishes to see in response..

You two might be fine about it, doesn't mean that another person couldn't find it a good enough excuse to start tossing fireballs around. Me? I like to make sure that they don't have any targets to begin with. Means, overall less work for us Mods, because we got enough to do as is. (Still have 13 ban reports to write here.)

And I know you two are not a mob and not preaching freedom of speech, it was the whole: you are guests here and how we exercise judgement and quality control aspects, which I deemed relevant to explain, why I was making my request in the first place.
