WTF Folder

I have noticed that many mods suggest you delete the WTF Folder before extraction. But the problem I have with that is that when I do this, follow the rest of the instructions the mod provides, and start up WoW, there are no textures. I log into the game and everything is white, and all I see is the minimap (No map, just a circle w/ white center) and my arrow on the minimap.

Does deleting the WTF folder have any significant impact on installing mods? I go through a different UI setup at least once a week, and usually avoid deleting the folder, and the mods work just fine.

I (being a Comp. nerd and one that trys to help others on this forum ^_^ ) only suggest deleteing the WTF and WDB folders when in game problems arise
mainly graphical/texture issues
