I just started WoW and I have created a orc hunter who is speced out in mining and eng. I'm finding it hard to find mining nodes thou and was wondering where as a starting orc hunter could I find some good spots to mine. now I don't want to go treking too far out of my way as I still want to do my quests and stuff. am I going to have to just wait to get into some better areas to start to mine in ernest? also where can I teach my hunter to use a gun? I hope I can! that's the reason I went mining/eng over skin/leather!
thanks for any help!

mining nodes are always near areas with mountains and rock formations if that helps. by the time you get to level 10 or 12 there will be a quest to send you to the barrens where there are tons and tons of mining nodes for engineering.
oh and guns should be trainable in thunderbluff, which im sure a quest will send you to at some point (you dont really need to train it unless you actually get a gun before then)

Try mapwow.com for ore deposit locations when it comes back online (seems to be down at the moment). wow.allakhazam.com has a list of the engineering recipes as well as thottbot, but you may as well just wait until you get home to play and pull up the engy trainer, because they have some gun recipes to train.
(Keep in mind once you get up in levels, mining can really stink because of the farmers.) I don't recall the exact skill level but there's probably a couple guns under 100 skill, so it's certainly possible to get one.

Actually I think there are more in Durotar, especially as a lot of players in Durtar won't have professiona yet so there will be less miners around.
