Well basically im having this disk 5 problem, I used to play the game about 4 months ago but then I quit and decided to level up my characters again for the expansion.
And when I try and install I get this before it finishes installing:
http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?image=insertdisc5problemea1.png
It tells me to insert disk 5 when the game doesn't come with disk 5, I checked the back of the game box and it says '4x CD rom drive' and I have all 4 cds.
I did try inserting disk 1 and 4 again as CD 5 but it's not working.
Anyone have this problem or can help? Or can anyone forward it to the offical WoW forums as my account is innactive and I cannot post.
Thanks

Now I understand that some WoW games come with 5CDs but this is incorrect for mine because it only has 4 spaces for CD's in the box so that's not the problem. Help please :(
I read your other thread in the community forum and some ppl claimed the game has 5 CDs...well..both the german and english versions that I bought in February 2005 have 4 Discs (labelled as 1of4 to 4of4)..so unless more discs were added in later releases (for patches or what)...the game has 4 discs...

Do they read 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4, and 4 of 4?

No, just disc 1, 2, 3 and 4.

You can get an internet based client. It will be a massive download, but rather than being stuck 80% through...

I'm not sure how much of this would skirt the boundaries of legality, but surely it must be available on some peer 2 peer network.
Given what you've suggested though here is what I think a likely scenario can be:
1. You have an older version, before a certain patch that pushed it over the 4 cd limit.
2. When installing, the installer updates itself somehow as well (I haven't observed this, but who knows?)
3. It then believes there should be 5 discs, but there are only 4.
The 4x CD Rom drive only indicates you need a 4 speed CD Rom Drive (As part of the requirements). Your alternatives as I can see them:
1. Find the 5th disc (Online, possible risk, etc.)
2. Download the client install
3. Pick up a Trial DVD from a shop, they run about NZ$5 iirc and that makes installing it a lot easier.
Mine's 5 discs as well, I picked it up less than six months ago though. I've been using the Trial DvD for installations as that's faster and easier than shuffling discs though.

The game originally did come with 4 discs, no matter which country you were from. Recently, another disc was added. It's very probably a patch update so downloading patches is easier.

2. Download the client install
Your best bet. I believe there's a client download somewhere in the support section on the WoW website.

UK Client? Try this thread (http://forums.worldofwar.net/showthread.php?t=383982).
Mind you, if you haven't created your account yet, than you could simply make a trial account here (http://teaser.wow-europe.com/), get the dl and simply upgrade.
US trial here (http://www.fileplanet.com/files/160000/163517.shtml) and here (https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/index.htm).
Just get the 1.12.0 patch, and then the 2.0.1 from a mirror site, run them and you're set to go really.
Mind you Wednesday is maintenance/patch day in the EU, it's Tuesday for the US, so if you can't get on. Servers are down for maintenance.

maybe the 4 cd is the old version (wow 1.0) and now in the new retail version you get a 5th CD which include some patch released in the past... instead of forcing you to d/l 1go who can take some time.

Easy solution--
Find someone with the 5 disc version and borrow their 5th disc.
Buy a new version with 5 discs.
