I got DC from WoW and I tried to start it up again and I get an error message saying that WoW was unable to start up 3D acceleration and that I needed to make sure I have Direct X 9.0C installed and that my drivers are up to date. I dont know what to do because I do have Direct X 9.0C installed and my drivers are up to date.
The same type of problem occurs when I try to start other games too, for example when I try to start F.E.A.R up it tells me that it is unable to initialize the renderer to a valid video mode. I dont know what that means, and if anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you

Try to reinstall directx, something may have corrupted.

Could be your gfx card is dying/dead/damaged. I had an ATi X1900XT that started out doing exactly what you described (games complaining they can't initialize 3D, or unable to use any video modes), and even when they did load, they'd blackscreen or artifact after playing them for a minute. Eventually I started blackscreening in the windows and I gave up and bought a new card (ATi wouldn't RMA it :(). Don't want to scare you, it's just a possibility, though it's more likely to be a driver problem. Try an OpenGL game like Quake3, Doom3, Wolfenstein or something and see if they work, and try more D3D games like Half-Life2. Also, what card are you using? AFAIK recent nVidia drivers have been quite buggy, but being an ATi fanboy I'm not sure what's really going on in nVidialand :P
