In your opinion, what is the easiest race/class for someone new to start out as?
Thanks for the help.:wink3:
Also I am sure this has been asked before, but the search didnt come up with the results I was looking for. So sorry for asking.
I think being a mage is a good way to learn the game.
Race really isn't that important.
Mages are pretty straightforward. You do a lot of damage, CC (crowd control - aka polymorph), and make food and water. That's pretty much your role in the game. You will feel "squishy" due to the lack of armor, but WoW has given you tools to alleviate that.
Honestly, though; just play around with a variety of classes. You may find something that appeals to you more. I just selected "mage" because it's fairly hard to mess up. :)

I know this is going to sound strange, but play a Warlock.
They are generally regarded as one of the hardest but funnest classes to play.
I recommend it because in the process of learning how to play a warlock effectively you will be driven to find all the support and resources available outside the game to help you in the game. If you're posting on this forum you're off to a good start.
Seriously, Warlock is kinda hard on beginners but once you get a feel for it you will start having loads of fun.
Do not choose the quick and easy path. That leads to the dark side... Hunters and Rogues

If you're a newbie, I suggest starting with the most newbie-friendly class: Paladin. Create a human pally and play him for a while till you get a real feel for the game and what class most closely fits your play style. Ask around to get other people's ideas as well.

Everyone always says that new players would be best suited with a hunter/paladin...simply because they don't die that often. What's so wrong with dying. To be perfectly honest, PvEing with a paladin or hunter is probably more difficult than doing so with a warrior or rogue (although both of these classes have greater responsibilities in instances).
If you play enough, you'll learn. There's no need to play a class that's super easy if you're not going to enjoy it. I'm a supporter of playing what you think suits you. If you think it would be fun to cut down the trees...play a warrior. If you like the idea of being a squishy, but powerful caster...go mage. Want to do a little of everything? Play a druid/shaman. If you like pets, hunter/warlock. It's all gravy, baby. Whatever you'll play, you'll eventually learn how to survive. And if you need pointers, that's what the class forums are for...we have a helpful group here. And I'm sure they'd be happy to answer specific questions about how to most effectively play the class of your choosing.

For a newb... Im gonna have to say the rogue. Most versatile yet easiest class to start out as. Sinister Strike also contributes to most of the damage. Eviscerate finishes 'em off quick.

well so far I have tried a tauren warrior and a troll mage, both were pretty good, I think ill give paladin a go next.
Only bad part being its an alliance only class.(obviously not counting blood elves, as I want to get the original down first)

You can start with any class and learn how to play effectively easy. The game gives you a fairly gentle introduction in reality and by building friendships in-game you can quickly build up a fairly decent support network of people.
The trick is to playing a class that you enjoy. That will see you learning more about it and wanting to learn more about it. The other thing is you can play more than one class. A number of people will recommend levelling one character to 60, but I've found a more bovine grazing style of playing to be fairly rewarding. That way while characters are building up rested XP you can play with a different one. If you're being corpse camped, you can flick to an alt and spend an hour or two leveling them.
So, I'll counter by asking you - what type of character do you like playing?

Depends on what you like. But in my opinion Warrior would be the easiest, or maybe Paladin cause they can heal. It's up to you. Race doesn't really matter, but maybe try human.

I would say Rogue, if your alliance don't make a Night Elf. It's harder because theres not as many people to help you on quests and its far away from the Deadmines/Stockades/SFK.

Well that actually depends on the game, but I am liking my warrior, got it to lvl 13....
Now if someone could suggest a good profession, ill be on way way.
And thanks to everyone that has tried to help me/did help me.
IMO, the most useful professions are alchemy and engineering. Alchemy is nice in that you can make things that benefit every class.
Same thing with engineering. I like having a warrior in my group that's an engineer. Just having Jumper Cables (resurrection trinket) makes the warrior a lot more useful. Plus, having bombs for some nice AoE damage helps with holding multi-mob aggro.
Of course, every profession has some value. It's just a matter of what appeals to you. I will say this though. Don't go into a profession thinking that you'll make all your own gear. Most of the crafted items cannot compete with the drops you get throughout your travels. Instead, try to focus on those few things that everyone tends to want. That way, at the very least you can break even, or even make a decent profit.
A lot of people will tell you that it's not worth taking a crafting profession. While they are correct in a sense; professions do add an extra level of immersiveness to the game. I like to enjoy all of the different aspects of WoW. Don't rush your progress too much. There's a lot of good content there.

Well, due to the ease of learning in WoW, any class is good for a newbie. I started with a rogue and I did just fine.
But if you insist on the easiest class to play, take a paladin or a shaman. Paladins hardly ever die in PVE (bubble heal! bubble heal!) and shamans can practically kill every PVE mob with frost shocks. Mages are good. Just blow them to hell. Hunters too.
But I find easy classes boring, so I took a rogue and just recently start a warlock (to feed my sadistic urges. Warlocks are very good at that with DoT. Imagine getting yourself DoTed with every single DoT the warlock has and you have that sense of impending doom, that no matter what you do, you are going to die anyway. Yes, even if the warlock dies).

Hunters are EZ mode
there is not an easier class than BM hunter for someone who knows absolutely nothing about the game :)

Pick Druid and play it till around Level 23 (when you get Cat Form at L20 and play with that a couple of levels), they can be a Warrior, a Priest, a Rogue and a Mage. Once you find you like one aspect over another you can reroll.
If you find you wanna play alongside a pet, go Warlock/Hunter (depending on your "i wanna be dark/light" inclination).
If you like the Healing and Warrior part of the Druid, make a Paladin.
If you like the Healing and Rogue part of the Druid, make a Shaman.
If you like it all... you picked the right class
Ow, and pick the feral talents, the resto and balance talents aren't really that much of an asset untill later levels.
If by best, means easiest to get into.
Hunter.
By far.
Quickest/easiest levelling class in the game.
