You'll probably need to wait til the 16th or a day or 2 before. It's more than a week away from official release, I wouldn't expect it to be able to take the keys or such yet because of that.

My guess is that you will have to wait til the 16th...period...You can't upgrade to what hasn't yet been released.

IMO, if they don't allow it early there will probably be alot of issues with trying to connect to the servers when trying to upgrade. If they make it only possible to upgrade at the very opening there will be a huge influx of players probably causing the servers DOS.

If Blizzard did make it possible to upgrade your account days before the release, they wouldn't be the first game to do so. The games that do allow you to upgrade prior to the release simply just don't have the content switched on server side meaning the server doesn't care if you have access rights or not, it won't let you access it till it has been officially released.

It will be nice to see how well Blizzard are actually prepared... If you can't upgrade till the very minute it opens, add to that, that the servers can't handle the stress or if they don't make any precautions whatsoever to spread the load; it'll be pretty disappointing.

congratulations, you have the beta installer - the proof is the version number, which is way below the current beta, and the current live version... Live is 2.0.1.6180, and beta is 2.0.3.6282... I'm incredibly doubtful that blizzard would release a game that goes backwards in terms of version numbers... show us a pic of you holding the box, cd, manual, reciept and perhaps i'll believe you...

and on a further note - did you not notice the skip button on your last pic?

I think the installer version number will be lower than 2.0.3 anyway. The game went gold quite a while ago now so the max version will be 2.0.1. possibly even lower.

Blizzard has actually posted that you'll need to update to the current patch after installation of the retail version of Burning Crusade. You can see the post on WorldofWar.net's main page or as quoted.

And just out of curiousity, how much hard drive space is the game slated to use?

As the BC went gold a week or so ago, the retail version won't be right up to speed with the v2.03 patch. Once the BC is installed it will need to be re-patched so hold onto the patch file in case.

As the Burning Crusade expansion was finished prior to the most current patch versions it will be necessary to re-patch to 2.0.3 once the expansion is installed. As some players remove their patches after they have been applied we would like to provide a helpful warning not to delete the “2.0.0-to-2.0.3” patch file as it will be required after the Burning Crusade is installed.

The full beta dl was quite big....can't recall the actual size, and I'm presently traveling...

It took all night to download, while I was asleep.
