Given how many threads we get asking what class to play, has anybody ever written a definitive answer to the question?

I propose that somebody writes a decent guide to the classes. Goes through every class and said what it is like to play and what your strengths and weaknesses would be etc. Then we could sticky it and point everyone who asks the question to the sticky.

What do you think? I would be happy to write the guide if nobody more respected wants the job.

Yeah..we could do with the odd "Newbie starter guide" and then we just tell everyone to look at it.

-what class
-what area at what level

at least those always pop up...

If there are so many threads on these questions, surely a sticky thread with all of them linked in it would suffice.

However imho no one can tell someone else what class to play as we are all individuals with our own naunces. What I like to play might not be what someone else likes to play, and equally none of those may be the best to play.

If a person asks what character should he play then answering it for him is to me like spoon feeding a baby. Next he will be asking what is a nice hair colour for his character.

Not "nice" hair colour - *best* haircolour, Chunder. :-)

There are already stickies for all the classes - maybe create a link to the most basic of those and fill out the information if there isn't a definitive post?

And odds on that they would still ask and ask and ask.

Exactly, there is no real answer to the question, so every thread just ends up with everyone saying 'you should play (insert my favourite class here) because....'.

I thought somebody could write a guide that actually said things like:

If you want good armour and survivability then you might want to consider a Paladin

If you want to do high damage then onsider a Mage or Rogue

If you want to be highly sought after in groups then don't play a Rogue or Hunter

Stuff like that. So a new player couldgo through and balance up all the arguments for and against each class, without it turning into a class popularity contest.

Well..yeah...even as a sticky we will have ppl coming and asking and not bothering to read stickies. And about the spoonfeeding...agreed...ppl don't ask for haircolor (yet), but even with a map section here (that includes herbs and quests) you get the "Where should I go next" questions.

As if there weren't enought npcs with "!" even at lv 50+ that send you to Silithus in case you missed the exit from Un Goro....
