If so, could you give me some pointers? I just got a brand new computer, and I have a 55 druid on another account I'd like to try boxing with my warlock (crazy grinding!). I can do ok, but I have a hard time getting the druid to do anything other than regrowth/rejuv; I don't have the micromanagement skills to have him attack whatever I, as the warlock, am. Are there any macros or something that could help?

If you have enough ram you dont have to dual box. I run 2 accounts on the same computer. Alt tab is your friend

Get duel Bear Claws. And if you want to be really l33t, get a racing USB set, and macro 4 of the druids abilities to the pedals.

I don't duel box wow. I do duel box half-life 2 DM

I know that a guy in my guild can play two comps at a time...which I can't. Playing on one comp with one keyboard and 2 game windows open sounds even tougher. At least get a second monitor ^^.

Any macro that would allow the following player to cast heals or spells at a given % of health of the other one would be too close to botting.

Since you also share the xp and share the online time, you will both use up your rested bonus at the same time, so actually resting one too and playing the other sounds more viable...for trading between chars, alt tabbing 2 games sounds viable..if you dont have the patience to wait for the mail....

I agree with the macro but there's nothing to stop you from just putting a healer on follow and hitting the hotkey for his healing spells when you get in trouble. Due to space considerations, I'd probably go with a laptop for the healer and keep the desktop with the 'main' character.

I am SO tempted to give this a go. If I can just find a nice cheap laptop with enough spec to run the game.

There was one guy who had four boxes, four mages, and a wifeless keyboard and mouse all synced up.

Then he basically stacked all the mages on top of each other, and made them all do teh same thign all the time. :)

I dual-box my hunter and shaman. Here are some hints. Some obvious and some not so much.

Keep your two keyboards near each other. I find one in front of the other a better configuration that side to side.

/Follow is your friend

/assist (primary computer toon)
/cast [target=targettarget, help] Lesser Healing Wave, [help] Lesser Healing Wave (or any heal spell - works GREAT in raids when you are tank switching)

/assist (primary computer toon)
/cast [harm] Stormstrike (or any offensive spell)

Set auto-attack on assist. Also, set looting options to Free for All and Epic.

It takes some getting used to when you are being attacked by multiple mobs since you are assist healing the primary target. I usually have self cast enabled along with an un-macro'd heal and click on it when my shaman is getting attacked (since his target is always a mob due to /assist in all my macros. I also use an owl for the AoE taunt of screech but any pet will do so long as you're good with growl-tab-growl-tabbing. I've been doing this for months now and I feel like I have an even chance of surviving when things get chaotic.

I've even tried 2-boxing BG. My advice ... Don't. You can get some nasty alpha strikes with Aimed Shot-Chain Lighting-Arcane Shot-Lightning Bolt-Multi Shot-Earth Strike-Raptor Strikes ... But I've lost more than I've won in group PvP trying to 2-box.

I've heard of that guy 5-boxing 5 mages in PvP. Sounds nasty. Sheep + 5 pyroblasts sounds deadly. I am going to attempt 2-boxing some bloodelves when I get around to rolling a couple of mages. Might be fun.

P.S.
I did some research on the 5-box thing. There are several ways to do it. The easiest way is to get a KVM switch with broadcast mode. These switches are useful for network administrators but I can see some applications for WOW. Unfortunately, it is an expensive solution. KVM's with broadcast are usually used for large computer farms and are designed to service 10 to 100 computers.

P.S.S.
Now that I think of it ... Imagine 10-boxing BG. Just run around spamming Arcane Explosion. Okay ... not practical but man it sounds like fun.

You want a wireless wife? I hear those are very hard to control.

Actually, there is a 5-boxer named Xzin (and Azin, Bzin,Czin,Dzin) which consists of 1 priest + 4 mage. He runs them all at the same time, reached Warlord or some such on them all, etc. There a recent interview with him..don't have the link handy, but you can google him.

Bumping an old thread.....

anyone know a good KVM that has the broadcast ability that doesn't cost $1000? :)
