I heard a rumor that everyone will get their respec costs reset with BC release. Anyone else hear something like this or is it wishfull thinking?

from what i have read on the blizz forums posted by a blue, the source i can no longer find

but upon release of the burning crusade there are going to be slight changes to the tallent trees on the druid and rogue classes only, thus these characters are to get a free respec, unless this has been changed by public uproar i dont know as some people found this a little unfair.

Given that we just had one for the last patch I would be surprised if there would be another on release.
Possible though.

i dont just mean a free respec, i mean the cost reset back to 10silver or whatever the first respect cost was.

i presume nope,

as in a previous patch the respec cost was set to deterorate over time so i guess may depend on how often you respec

There's been a lot of debate about it but the answer is no. Only druids and rogues get a chance to at least get a free respec due to significant talent changes which will be coming with BC for them.

All of the debate has revolved around the fact that given the talents came out at the start of December along with the easier to get PvP rewards, everyone has specced for PvP and/or remained specced for raids. The argument from players is that there should be another free respec as most people will need to respec to a more levelling-friendly spec.

Just read the numerous threads on the beta and live forums and you'll get the idea.

As for the resetting of costs, once again it's a no because they would've done it in the last patch if they were ever going to.

I really don't understand why they are so strict with respec costs. As if it's going to change anything if they give everyone a free respec with the expansion...

I really don't understand why they are so strict with respec costs. As if it's going to change anything if they give everyone a free respec with the expansion...The reason is (as always) the need to maintain money sinks in the game, to keep inflation in check. Blizzard needs to remove money from circulation in order to maintain a (relatively) stable economy. This is also the reason why the AH takes a 5% cut, as the remainder is just moving from seller to buyer - yet still remaining within the global money pool of the server. Other notable money sinks are mounts, riding skills, some attunement quests, purchasable reputation and PvP rewards, reagents and ofc repair costs.

You'd miss them if they weren't there. Seriously :)

From what i heared but that was quite some time ago was that respeccing costs will go down the longer you wait between respecs. However nothing was said about the time period and how fast costs were going down.

Wraak the thing you describe has already been added to the game. For every month you do not respec, 5g is cut off the respec cost.

Aye, that's true - 5g reduction per month, to a minimum of 10g

15g, IIRC....not 10.

It's 10g.

The cost to unlearn talents will now decay over time. This cost will be reduced by a rate of 5 gold per month to a minimum of 10 gold.

Also, the Druid and Rogue respec is official, it's in today's patch notes (2.0.3), I installed the patch and read the patch notes before work today.

Mine has not gotten under 15 gold, although I found several spots on blizzard's web page that said 10 gold. The GM just blew me off.:ponder:

/agree...the patch notes say 10g, as quoted above...But, I have not respecced one of my toons for more than six months, and he has been at 15g for five of those six....
