Hi, I'm writing an article for my school newspaper and was just wondering why everyone else here plays WoW. I am not just some random schmoe off the street that is being forced to write this story, I am an avid warcraft player with three 60's >.> any feedback would be nice good or bad, if you have any additinal or personal comments my e-mail is mail deleted before the evil spam crawler spider bots get it
Thanks:)

If you are an avid player with three 60s, then you should know why we play WoW.

1. It's fun.
2. It's a community. The thing about communities is it gives everyone in the community a sense of belonging. There are very few, if any, outcasts. No one is ostracized because of the way they look. Players tend to judge other players based on their actions and words, not on their looks. That is a fundamental truth that most people seem to either forget as they get older, or were just never taught. Don't judge a book by its cover. Sadly, that is how people are judged each and every day, no matter how well they speak, no matter how valorous or moral their actions are. This game takes that away and replaces it with something important. Words and deeds.
3. It's fun.

I play WoW because I live on my own, and its more entertaining than getting drunk at a bar each night. And less expensive. So I just drink at home (staying safe) and grind away.

Because my wife attacks me for hours on end everyday. I play WOW to build my stamina back up(Health and Mana Regen).

1. It's fun
2. It's more entertaining then the junk on TV
3. It's cheaper than most other forms of entertainment
4. It's a nice escape/break from the demands of the real world.
5. I am in awe of both the complexity and the simplicity of the game. :-D

Escapism coupled with a certain amount of personal achievement. It offers me an avenue to escape reality for a few hours and as a comparable entertainment medium I find it to be more gratifying than the instant-satisfaction, lowest-common denominator television that is on offer.

Apart from that there is the thrill of being hunted and of being the hunter every once in a while, the joy of discovering and exploring and the capacity to experience the whole gamut of human emotions.

It is in effect an alternate, virtual reality within which you can live to the fullness of your desires without the hindrances of bills, mortgages and the mundane callings of my day to day life.

In short - because I love it.

Good social atmosphere.. I live in the Rockies in Colorado, kind of a laid back area not many people.. and I hate what's on TV now a days.. So my Wife and I play World of Warcraft as a hobby, which as such doesn't suck your life away time wise like alot of other MMORPG's.

You can accomplish a great deal in little time.. like 7pm to 9pm after work before sleep time. It allows time for great career choices and other outdoor hobbies without feeling you are wasting your money on something you don't use (wow subscription)

It's a low-cost hobby that I can pick up at any time of day, and it's less passive than watching television or reading a book, but it still isn't physically taxing (I have a back injury, so that's quite a point of consideration for me at times). It also has a fairly nice community, so the social aspect is fun, and it's an interest I can share with at least one real life friend who lives in another country.

i play wow because you cant beat it! you just keep going and going plus im tired of games that cost 50 bucks everytime a number 2 comes out with levels that i can probably beat in a day also
i like knowing that sense im playing a comp game it wont become obsolete like how there is ps1 ps2 and a ps3
and if you see a game on t.v you want to play they may not have on your system

I play to fulfill all my malicious and sadistic urges without getting arrested.

I don't play anymore. But I played because I was bored and needed something to do. Which is why I play most games. It's something to do.

I can't afford not to play.

Either I play or I go out and spend way too much money.

Not that WoW isn't entertaining.
