Honestly! I’ve tried to look up info on them but it’s very limited as to what I get. Here’s what I’ve found:

There are three different ones. What’s the difference, are there different rules to each? Can I join any when ever I want, do I need to be part of a group to join?

I have been avoiding them (well mostly WSG because that’s the only entrance that I have found) because I don’t want to join one and not know what to do and be a hindrance to my team. I’m horrible at PvP but was told this was one spot to improve my skills, is this true or will I just get feed up and not enjoy the battlegrounds? I want to get as much enjoyment out of playing WoW and I think the battlegrounds could be fun!

WSG - Capture the flag (10 people per side)

Arathi basin - Control the nodes (i.e. King of the Hill) Right click on 5 different nodes and dont let the other team right click them. For each node you gain (and the longer you control them) the more "resources" you gain. First team to 2000 resources wins. (15 per side)

Alterac Valley - Kill the other teams boss before they kill yours.

Its all pretty simple. WSG you will learn how to play within the first 3 minutes, AB within the first 10 seconds, and AV after a few games.

They are fun and definatly worth doing.

Do it! Then do it again! and again! You will realize all of a sudden that you are learning new techniques, how to do things faster, and how other classes work =]

Typically, as one would generally expect (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/), the official site has some useful information on it. Try the FAQ there for general information, and delve a bit.

With regard to hindrance to your team - don't worry about it, there are hundreds of new people in each battleground each day all learning.

Throw yourself into it, die a LOT (you rez after release within max 30s automatically with full health and mana!!!). Think of dying as a quick mana / health recharge! Do loads of damage or healing and do your best to enjoy.

I did AB for the first time the other day and just said "I'm a noob, who do I follow" and someone said "do this blah blah". You may get someone who says stupid stuff don't worry - they were all noobs at some point :-)

Yeah i ahvn't done many BG's and i am like level 40, what the main benefits of them ? I know you can get gear and stuff but no XP right ?

As a lock what the best pet to use in BG's ?

what is an arena then, there is one in STV i think what is that used for ?

the main benefit is obviously the armour weapons etc.

however its fun fighting against other people which is why many go in endlessly

as far as im aware theres no xp to be gained but them in 60 so wouldnt notice anyway

lock pets depend really, not a warlock so cant really answer which is best, though as a shaman felhunters annoyme.

as for arenas, the STV arena isnt much really, just a place to fight over a worthless chest that spawns every so often, though my guild use it as the recuitment area(pvp guild, gotta fight to get in it  )

however the arenas that came with TBC offer new armour(gladiator sets) in 2 v2 3 v3 or 5v5 arenas pitting you against similar geared opponants be they horde or alliance, its all fun fun fun for me

Hello,
Once I started playing the battlegrounds I could not stop I love them. The only thing is though I switched over to horde and now every time I join warsong I see 10 elves with glowing swords running at me and killing me with 3 swipes. I think all the twinking is really taking away from them. I do not go as often as I used to for that reason. Old complaint I know. Simple rule like no enchanted weapons would go a long way in my book. As it stands now Warsong does not measure how good you or your character is but how long you have spent gathering materials and becoming a beggar in a capital...

level brackets go from x0 to x9, so you are in bad hape at 41. You can still play, its just more about hanging back, and assisting the more involved allies. Try it out while you level, at 46-47 you should be on more even terms.

Because it's actually challenging. Fighting mindless AI mobs isn't a challenge in the least bit.

And this differs from 60 how?

If you're going to stay in the low brackets then you only have yourself to blame for not preparing properly. If you are leveling up, then it shouldn't matter. It doesn't require you to be a beggar, or even have a high level main character. Those people decided to get the quickest reward on their time and money. Sure you could require everyone to level to 60 before they can get enchants.............but, you'll have the same result, with more time spent.

Class power will shift with each level. One thing that remains true in this game, at any level, is that those who spend the time gearing themselves up will have an edge of those that don't.

Yes, it's an old argument. Get over it.

Haha, I wouldn't mid if that rule got put in place....My AQ20 enchanted gear will make up for the lack of lifestealing and +15 agi on my weapons. Id still have over a 50% dodge, over 20% crit and over 1100 life :P
