I have a lvl 45 undead priest that has 300 skinning and 285 herbalism. I chose these professions originally as money makers so I could get my mount as quickly as possible. Now that I have my mount, I was contemplating dropping skinning for alchemy.
I hate the thought of leveling up a skill again, but I got my mount now, so I suppose the money aspect of skinning isnt as important as it once was.
Would you stick with skinning and keep AHing hides, or would you start over with alchemy?

what i would suggest is IF you have an alt at around level 45 as well, give it leatherworking & alchemy
then use your main to feed him the mats and skill him up in both :)
otherwise it all depends on if you have tbc and need to start farming for your epic flying mount or not (5000g)

Keep the gathering professions...
Level something else to 35, if you want to experience new professions on that new toon.

Ok guys, thanks for the advice. Since I put the time and effort into lvling skinning, maybe I'll hold on to it a while. After all, extra money from auction housing hides is always handy I reckon.
it's not a good idea to make another alt whit leather working and alchemy, specially if you are going to buy TBC, drop skinning and take alchemy

Dont take alchemy unless you are a masochist :P the discovery system (i.e. only way youll actually make decent cash once you hit outlands is with the discovered recipes) is absolutely horrible
I dropped my 2 year old alchmist because of this stupid system. 6000+ gold and 3500+ potions and didnt discover anything.

Every time you make something, you apparently have the chance to 'discover' a new recipe you didn't have before....
