well i finally made it to shattrath city in terrokar. i decided i needed to stop doing quests, getting ganked/ganking, and start to look around.

shattrath is a nice city, a neutral city with a couple different factions. i liked the layout. it's circular with a couple levels. when you first arrive and go to the temple of light you meet the head honcho of the city ada'i or something. there you will also find ahem "khadgar" student of medivh and the one who closed the dark portal from outland years ago. that to me was cool seeing khadgar, a lore legend, standing there, "worshipping" ada'i.

anyway he summons a voidwalker to lead you around the city and xplain the opposing factions: scryers, aldors. scryers are the blood elves who left illidan and the aldors are draenai. they dislike eachother. shattrath however is a city of peace and people from, as teh vw tells you on your tour, "many diffferent wars live here in peace. so there's no fighting. They both revere the na'aru. adai is a naa'ru.

anyway if you go onto their respective tiers or areas within the city you'll come to the bank/inn, you'll find the tier 4/5 vendor. you'll find the rep turn in and rewards guys downstairs however on the main level in the respective factions "area". to me the scryers are just better for the damage casters. the whole blood elf arcane, shadow magic stuff. the aldors had what seemed to be more holy, priest, healing type junk. as you can tell i don't like +healing gear (reformed priest, now warlock). So i chose the scryers. their rep rewards suit me more, i like the BE middle east theme, the arcane theme, etc., etc., the aldor just seem like fanatics to me.

last but not least Khadgar is the one you choose which faction you want to align with. go and find the rep rewards persons first and look at them. i think that's the final say in the matter besides all of the other stuff.

peace.

Nice..thanks for the sum up. I take it, the folks in the outer circle belong to no faction? Or a faction different from Scryer and Aldor?.

I feel like visiting Thunder Bluff or Stormwind for the first time...really getting lost. Found the T4/5 vendor but not the rep reward vendor yet.... (adding to the n00bishness is the fact that I followed the wrong Voidwalker ^^ )

THe outer ring in general is of the Lower City rep, tho there is a scryer quest giver down there arguing with an ethereal.

The rep reward provisioners are in the banks of their respective factions, on the inner ring.

LOL that's awesome, was it a warlock's VW or another VW someone else was following?

I am confused here per this http://www.wowwiki.com/Aldor_vs._Scryer
It is totally reversed (see the comparison summary table). So which is which?

Basically I saw it like this: Aldor = PvE, Scryer = PvP.

Being a priest on a PvP server, I went with Scryer myself.

I read somewhere that the Aldor have a jewelcrafter trainer and the scryers have an enchanter trainer. Are these just your regular, run of the mill trainers, or do they have special recipes you can only learn from them?

My resto druid is an enchanter, and I'd hate to go with the Scryers, for her enchanting, only to find out that it's just a convenience trainer, and miss out on the nice healing gear that the Aldor provide.

Soooooo lost in this new city. At least I don't feel alone, now. :(

Hehehe... yeah had the same thing... abandoned quest and restarted it. (Shouldn't quest and blabber in Guild at the same time, even with a simple quest like this.)
