Now that TBC is out, I expect many many people getting trampled by these extremely huge and noisy, though surprisingly sneaky monstrosities.
So I shall now open this thread for all to share their Fel Reaver stories.

My first two deaths in Outlands were both down to Felreavers. You'll be happily killing mobs, then you'll think 'what's that noise?' then you feel the vibrations, then you think 'oh ****' then you health drops from 5000 to 800 in one hit.
Then you die.
When I saw them it was like "WTF? Mecho-Godzilla!!!"
Can't day they sneak up however. My death in Outland was due to some guy pulling 10 shattered hand orcs up the path of glory who decided to turn on me ^^"

These are the new Devilsaurs.

Yup. Equivalent to Devilsaurs - although fortunately their draw distance seems to be somewhat larger.
No, my funniest deaths so far in outland have been when I've happily walked into an area, not realising that 5738922 other players had just killed the 7573829572 mobs there, and they've all respawned on top of me... ;-)
Well, that and the time that I fell off the world...

Very different to Devilsaurs cause:
- I can't solo these with my mage.
- I can't skin them for 2g a pop.

The look amazing from the air.. uh, not that I kept repeating the bombing runs endlessly just to take in the view or anything... ahem.
Oh, and they trod on our priest, "those b******s".

I was one-shotted by a Fel Reaver on launch day, iirc it was something like 4000+ crushing damage. Usually the trembling and that indescribable sound they make allows me enough time to Blink out of their path.
I don't mind them being here, though, as it adds a nice element of tension to the zone. One other factor is the satisfaction players will get when they one day reach lvl 70 and bring a bunch of lvl 70 mates to Hellfire Peninsula to deliver a lethal dose of payback to the Fel Reavers :) I don't know if "a bunch" is 4 or 21 players, but I'm pretty sure they are killable. The payback would be sweet, much like I felt when I fried that annoying Devilsaur in Un'Goro..

Yeah... I've been wondering about future lvl 70 (maybe raid?) encounters with that Pit Lord (or Pit Boss? but that sounds like a casino) by the Portal...

Oh I'm not saying they don't have other purposes as well...
But I remember a couple of months back, my guild were discussing ways that Blizzard could discourage gold farmer bots. One of the best ways we came up with would be to have a very powerful (yet big and easy to spot) mob roaming around the zone.
Random thought I have just had:
Are Fel Reavers anti-bot devices?
Awesome idea, hehe...wonder if those Crust breakers fall into that category. Easy to kill but might freak out bots....

to be honest, i dont know how you can get killed by these...
huge like a skyscraper, horn like a train, earth is shaking like crazy... you have to be asleep at the keyboard to be able to get surprised by them...
and they are normal lvl 70-71 elites, i think at lvl 70 i ll be able to kite one to death whit my frostmage.

I got killed once by them...was in the process of kiting something when all of a sudden some big black legs were in front of me, then WHAM...im dead.
I think its fun to watch all the afk players get killed....or those that are completly oblivious to their screen shaking get killed.

Hmm Fel Reavers as an anti-bot device..... nice idea if it helps keep bots away.
When I first saw these I decided then and there that I was going to take at least one out before I stop playing :) Like when I am at level 70 and have helped clear Tempest Keep in Heroic mode :)
Kept well clear of them and if I got tagged by one always made sure I led it towards the nearest bunch of Horde (sorry guys and gals) before Vanishing. No deaths yet, at least not through being turned into dog food by Mr F. Reaver.

For some reason the noise they make reminds of the show Lost when the black smoke goes on a tear through the island. Took me awhile to place that noise.
Big fan of the fel reavers, pretty easy to hear and spot coming though so I haven't had the priviledge of dieing.

I've been killed by Fel Reavers twice I think.
Both times because I'll be cruising along on my lvl 40 fel steed, then the fel reavers draws right in front of me. **dead**
Lag is your worst enemy, by far.
When I play in non-prime hours, I can see the things a mile away. No problems at all. During prime hours, the lag seriously effects the draw distance of these things, and the tend to get within aggro range before you can see them.

Only been killed once, my server was lagging to *beep* one night and I saw a fel rever beating on this warrior for a good 5 min. So being the guniess I am decided to attack it, thinking it was stuck on this warrior bugged out. Combat log was as follows.
Your hemorage hits fel rever for 140
You hit fel rever for 21, glancing
Fel rever hits you for 2750, crushing
You preform vanish
You gain stealth
Fel rever hits you for 2634, crusihing
You Die
Mind you I am in 6/9 T3 and was lvl 62 at the time, I got a good laugh out of it.

Mercot is dealing with dynamic respawns north of the Citidel.
Mercot fails to see the large shadow looming behind him.
The ground shakes.
Mercot sends Thooghun the felguard to attack Fel Reaver.
Fel Reaver is immune to stun. (Of course.)
Mercot casts death coil.
Fel Reaver is immune.
Fel Reaver's robotic pinky toe squashes Mercot for 3942 damage.
Mercot is deader than dead.

Been killed twice by it. Was killing a boar and got target fixation and didn't know what the hell the shaking was about.
I find it a little annoying though. Sometimes you gotta go afk to...well...take care of some business. You pretty much have to find a safe house to do that in outland.
Overall, BC rocks thought!

Haven't been killed by them yet, they make such a racket walking around, blasting their horn (or whatever that is) warning people that they are there. Makes it easy to just move around and avoid them. Fortunately I can see them *long* before they can see me.
Reporting from the front. They didn't get me yet

You think an evil death robot would be a bit out of place in WoW, but they seem to fit in well.
I think its says alot about the multiculuralism prevalent in the Outlandas if even demonic cyborgs can find a home there.

The Warcraft universe, in general, is a pretty odd thing. I mean.... It is fantasy, sure, but there is some significant, distinctly sci-fi and other genres mixed into it as well.

Portals to other worlds and Beings made of light / energy (the Naruu?).....
wait for it.....
Stargate! Woohoo!
Add in a little more technology (actually, a lot more...) and we'll be in Rifts (the RPG) territory.

Stargate, the movie, was released in 1994. Long before WoW came to be.
Of course, the beings made of light and such didn't appear until much later in the television series.
The original Warcraft: Orcs and Humans also came out in 1994.
Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal was in 1996. (The first game where you actually went through the dark portal... I'm not sure when the "lore" for the dark portal came to be though)
Its entirely possible that the Naruu was inspired by Stargate's: "The Ancients / Asscended Beings of pure energy". I don't know the lore behind the "Naruu" so I can't comment on this anymore.
And the "Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal" game could have easy been inspired by the original Stargate movie, as the orignal Stargate movie only went to one place...
Hehehe

I have to admit that I've been playing Warcraft since the days when DOS 6.22 were cool, and I'm a Stargate Movie / SG-1 / Atlantis DVD box set owner. I think I've got them all, or pretty close.

Jimdangles on Jubie'Thos (H) kited one in to Thrallmar. After it tore the place a new one the guards managed to take it down. Unfortunately nobody survived to loot it.
Inside the main building:

Dead inside the compound:
http://www.sheikmagnet.com/images/deadfelreaver.jpg
I've been killed 3 times by the damn things.
The first time was within about 5 minutes of first starting in outlands, killing some mobs just outside Thrallmar. I think my response was "/1 WTF IS A FEL REAVER and how does something 70ft tall sneak up on you?"
Second (and third) time, saw one coming and tried to scoot, got gangbanged by 3+ helboars and slowed, then WHOMP, troll pancake. I got back to my body and resed in the middle of all the respawned pigs, and then noticed that the Reaver had only walked a short distance away and then turned to come back. /sigh
On my way to finding the Assassin Krull Spinebreaker, I walked along the road North of Thrallmar. It is the road that the Fel Reaver takes. I met a gnome called Squat. He was dead - stomped on by a Fel Reaver. This made me chuckle.

I was having a play last night, and they seem to have a remarkably small aggro radius for a lvl 70. Maybe because it's done from the centre of the creature, I guess...
I think as soon as a significant number of my guild get to 65-66ish (and so have a reasonable chance of hitting the thing) we'll be going hunting :-)

I got bored when I was running around and decided to see how hard they hit, 3 hits later I saw my mistake, that's as a 61 druid tank, taking 2k hits.
They still remind me of War of the Worlds (the latest version). I'm sure that's where the sound comes from.

First death was during all the lag crashes. I relog after a boot to that sound, still gives me nightmares. second time i was finishing off a boar and thought i had time to get my kill. Boar died i looted and turned, another boar spawned and stunned me.........squish. I did get an ice block off though and it took him 4 hits to kill me.
I do like following it around and watching it squish folks. Watched one guy on a slow horse heading to thrall, reaver came up behind and smacked him. guess he forgot to look in the rearview.

First night of BC I was grouped up with some guildies just killin some orcs. I was in a playful mood when one of these hunks of junk stroll up. This is the first time any of us had seen a Fel Reaver and we were all askin what it was. So feeling playful I type out "Lets kill it!" and run towards it yelling "HAEL MEH" the whole way. I pop evasion and I get one or two hits in before it lands one back at me. 2.8k! ouch, pop my sprint and get the heck out of dodge. The priest in my group is laughing and said "No way in hell I'm healing you against one of those." 5 minutes later, another strolls by. I wasn't so lucky that time. :(

I nearly got squooshed, I was happily killing demons in that rift and I had made a nice little channel into them but was surrounded on 3 sides by a huge number. I heard the whistle and saw the shaking and realized it was aimed right at me. My hearth was down and I would have to ride straight at it or straight through many many mobs (as a priest either is death)
I did what any slightly tarnished holy person would .... prayed to the gods of Blizzard and popped the auto-unstuck for the second time in my entire 2 years of playing.
Since then I have had to use it twice more in outlands so I hope they don't track that. Both the other times though I was trapped in a ditch while trying to pick flowers and the options were use unstuck or swan dive over the edge of the world..... and me without feathers.

Well, yesterday I'm at the pools of Aggnor in northern Hellfire (a little east of the Draenei village in Hellfire), killing slimes and stuff, the bear is tanking, when all of a sudden, I look and see a -2125 flying from my little nelf hunter person. Before I had time to react, a -3205 flew out out and one dead hunter. Yeah. They hurt.
One funny story is I'm up in Gor'Thek outpost (Ithink that's the name) killing orcs for spirits, with about 10 or so other Alliance players running around doing the same, so orcs are scarce, and I run out of ammo at 9/10 to go. I can melee that. So I do, after severel attempts to get the stupid archonite relic working, and get a spirit that isn't ninja-ed from me by someone else. I kill the last spirit and start riding off back to Honor Hold. For some reason I turn the camera around, and there's a Fel Reaver at the outpost stomping around. I couldn't help but laugh as I fled back to Honor Hold.

I actually really REALLY like the Fel Reavers (and to a smaller extent, the underground worms). Just because I really REALLY hate bot farmers. And at level 70, Hellfire looks like a great place to bot farm. Giant death machines that are easy for humans to avoid but impossible for bots make me feel happy inside.
Did you know that you can control the Fel Reaver with a Gnomish remote controll? Chances are it wil backfire or miss, but when it does land its funn., short lived as it is....

I think they fit in very well if you use a better word for them. They are not "robots" they are "golems".
My current Fell Reaver score is 1-nil. My first (and so far, only) trip to Outland, I was happily killing imps when thump THUMP GROUND SHAKE what is that? Daze, hit, hit, dead. I just stared at the screen saying to my self "what the...?".

But they're not golems! They're robots! (or at least, they're "mechanicals". You could just describe them as such, I guess, like Shakespeare did. Well, he described mechanicals. I doubt that he was describing fel reavers. But you get what i mean :undecided:
I don't have a problem with them though. They fit with the whole "over-the-top-but-not-quite-useful" theme of the engineering in the game. They fit much better to my mind than the Dranei/Naaru who are wandering around with swords and shields while possessing the ability to maintain an entire friggin' spaceship! (apart from the actual taking-off part, of course)

Dood, golems are considered mechanical too. But Mr. F. Reaver is more robot than golem. I mean, that thing has ENGINES!
I should had named this the Fel Reaver Fan Club thread. I had yet to be stomped flat by a Fel Reaver, but I had a number of close calls, and I had watched him stomp a few Alliance flat.

How can a golem be mechanical? They're lumps of animate clay!
Oh, I see what you mean - there are creatures called golems in WoW that are mechanicals... well, on that basis call it a golem if you like, I guess ;-)
