I have the trial version, but i have not activated the 14-day trial account. I have tested, it is possible to log onto my friends' accounts. So why, on the cd cover, does it ask you to buy the full retail version of the game after your 14-day trial expires? Why can't i just register a paid account right now? Although on my CD it says 'trial version' it appears to be a full version of the game. Would the game itself ever expire, or is it only the account?

More importantly, is it possible to buy the expansion and install it over the trial version?

Edit: Is there a cd key required for making a normal account, or for upgrading to burning crusade game?? Because the trial version comes with an authentication key labelled "14 day guest pass", and no cd key.

I'm a bit confused here.

So you have a "trial" but you have access to your friends account? Do you actually have a Account Name and Password? I'm not sure how the whole trial thing works 100%, but I do know that you cannot make a normal account without an actual cd key as well as being able to upgrade.

Hope that helps.

Mind you, I'm a bit sleepy, so I may not be fully understanding what you're saying but here goes.

The trial client is indeed the same as the full game client. The limitations are ingrained in the account form. So someone with a trial account would be subject to the trial limitations.

Why does it say on that sticker to buy the retail version, once your trial expires? Because you need to upgrade your trial account to a full account and in order to do so you need a cd-key.

Two ways to get them, a) retail copy of the game from a store, b) upgrade through account management, in which case your listed credit card will be billed.

And no, you can't just buy TBC and stick it over the trial version and expect it to work. TBC only works with a full account.

Are you going to get the full version for sure?
I sent you a private message if you'd like to respond through that.

Depends on your location and the surrounding stores. I've seen prices anywhere from 19.95 in Euro's as well as 19.95 in US$.
